Fall Color Crush – Incorporating Richer Colors Into the Wardrobe

Two weekends ago I had a major closet clean out.  I had bought four boxes of the narrow velvet hangers from Costco and my mission was to get rid of all those plastic hangers that take up way too much room.  I’m working with half of a closet right now.  The things we do for love right?  Combining households and sharing closets.  My sleeveless tops and cut out maxis were taking up space. The closet needed to be flipped for the next season.  You may have seen it on my snapchat (@meetatthebarre) but by the time I was done, my entire bed was full of hangers.  I am happy to say my closet is officially ready for the Fall and Winter.  Even if Florida hasn’t gotten the memo yet.

In my closet flip around I discovered a few gems that had been sandwiched in between other pieces and now were ready to see the light of day.  I have a serious love affair with this dark green palate right now.  I want everything in these rich jewel tones.  Pair it with a bold lip and you are ready to go.

Let’s talk about this skirt for a second.  I picked it up during the SHOPBOP sale, also can find it here on Amazon.  BB Dakota is really one of my favorite lines.  The price point is not outrageous and when the pieces go on sale, they are really affordable.  The clothes hold up well and the current styles are on point.  I got this skirt in a small.  I was a little nervous about that because with my hips I usually size up.  The medium was sold out but I’m happy to say the small fits great.  You can wear this skirt for dinner or can really glam it up for the holidays with a sparkly shirt and heels.Turquoise Top and faux leather skirt for the Fall.Jewel Tones for FallFaux leather pencil skirt

I wore this outfit to dinner with my favorite suede pumps.  They are old Nine West and sold out but I found some great similar pairs here and here under $30 here.  You don’t have to matchy match these heels to your top.  I will wear them with all black or even color block it to a bold statement color piece.  They seriously go with everything.

Add a fun pop of color to your lips and you are good to go.  These Kate Spade sunglasses on major sale have been in heavy rotation.

Do you change over your closet for each season?  What is your current favorite go to Fall color right now?  Katie was my winner of the PMD giveaway!  I have some great giveaways planned for the month of November so definitely make sure to stop by to see what fab things are happening during my two year blog anniversary month!

I had posted this look to my Instagram with liketoknowit.  Make sure you sign up to get all the details emailed to you when you like the picture on there!  I always try to preview the look before it goes live on the blog.  xoxoxo

Girl, FL definitely hasn’t gotten the memo it’s fall. I can’t believe it’s supposed to be 93 today. Ridiculous! That green color is gorgeous on you! It’s so dark I thought it was black in a few pics but it really is the perfect color for fall! <3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes

Loving those dark greens! When I moved down here several years ago, I actually purged a lot of my winter stuff (I kept some for when traveling up north). It just doesn’t make sense to have a ton of boots and sweaters when we realistically only can wear them a few days out of the year when a cold front comes through. So, I like incorporating certain pieces into my wardrobe with the changing seasons like ankle booties and darker/richer colors.

I’ve been slowly replacing all the plastic hangers in our house with the felt ones – it’s a process though lol those babies aren’t cheap! ;)

Your outfit is stunning! I love that emerald shade this season. I’m a bit behind on my closet clean out progress over here. It seems when I start putting the summer clothes away, we have an unseasonably warm day…not that I’m complaining about that!

OK first of all, LOVE your outfit. I mean love everything that you’re wearing and would totally wear it myself. That color is beautiful on you too. I think it also happens to be a great color for blondes. :-) Did you get that Lush tunic too? I mean I seriously love mine. Thanks for sharing lady and I hope that you are having a great day so far! :-)

girl i feel you on the limited closet space. we have 2 extra closets in our spare rooms, but i don’t want to spill over into those, because then it would make it even harder to purge down the line lol. this colour is absolutely gorgeous on you!

Closet switch out?! I haven’t done that since I lived way up North! Doejs it get cold enough in FL for a closet switch? It either doesn’t in TX or I own so few “cold” weather items that they remain in the mix of all my summer stuff. Now that you’ve got me thinking about it though, I’m so happy I live in a climate that doesn’t require that nonsense because jeez it was a ton of work! Loving that green. I was just looking at a pair of Hunter boots in that exact jewel tone of green to purchase, actually! It’s beautiful, and looks great on blondes ;)

Green has always been such an overlooked fall color. I’m psyched that it’s blowing up this year! I’ve been gravitating toward the olives and military shades, and never thought about these deep jewel tones. Green can be tricky with red heads. (; I’ll have to try on of these shades out next time I’m out! You’ve got some fab picks!
