During the week my night time routine has to be succinct and products need to serve many purposes because I am usually dead tired before I go to bed with all the crazy running around I do. Side note do you ever have the feeling when you are laying on the couch and the sheer energy it takes to get up and wash your face sweeps over you? “If I just rest my eyes for 5 more minutes I’ll find the energy to wash my face”. Clearly I should try to go to bed earlier.
If I had to pick the bare basics for a 5 minute nighttime regimen it would look a little something like this.
Splurge Face Cleanser
True story. I have been using an anti-wrinkle preventive type of serum since I’ve been in my early 20’s. It is never too early to start. A little goes a long way with this one. I put a thin layer on and if I need extra moisturizer during the winter months I layer on top of this one. It doesn’t make you peel, is non irritating and doesn’t give you a red appearance in the morning. It does a really nice job at attacking those fine lines. The only thing I will tell you it has a certain smell when it starts activating on your skin. It’s not bad but not fragrance free. Just something I noticed. It is minor but something worth mentioning.
I also use the Olay Regenerist Daily Lotion with SPF 50 for daytime use. I will also layer it on top of the nighttime serum if I need extra hydration at night. It has never broke out my skin and is super hydrating. Plus you need a daily lotion with sunscreen!
New addition
Olay Regenerist Luminous Tone Perfecting Cream
I got this in my Influenster box and I was very pleasantly surprised. I have some discoloration and sun spots on my face and I have really noticed a huge difference with evening out my skin tone. It is very light, absorbs very quickly and when I use it I wake up looking refreshed (my skin that it). I will absolutely be buying this again after it runs out.
#5 Olay Regenerist Eye Lifting Serum
Okay I know I am starting to sound like a broken record but I have literally tried everything out there. The Regenerist line is my absolute favorite. My sister and I have incredibly sensitive skin and this line literally is the most non irritating preventive skin care that is on the market. I have been using the full line for the past couple of years and I’m so happy with the results. It does a great job with fine lines and preventing wrinkles. Plus you cannot beat the price points on it. Keep an eye out for local sales at your drugstores. Helps with dark circles as well and is not greasy. It absorbs the minute you put it on.
#6 Latisse
If I can really pull it together the last 30 seconds are devoted to a quick swipe on the lash line with this miracle worker. I have been using Latisse off and on for the past 4 years. The results are incredible. I have random patients on a daily basis ask if I have on fake lashes (I mean honestly who has time to apply those in the morning???) I have had LASIK in the past and it has not been a problem. I have had no side effects of lid coloration or any changes to my eyes. I could get into a dissertation about Allergan discontinuing the Lumigan or generic brand of this. I have had to start buying it full price the last tube but I digress….
So there you have it! My under 5 minute routine during the week. A typical night goes like this….Mark asleep on the couch “you washing your face?” “Yes” he falls asleep on the couch until I’m done with my prep work. Then it’s to my nightstand where it is cuticle and hand cream time. Poor guy….it’s like marrying an 80 year old lady hey at least I’ll age well right?
Tell me about your weekly routine! I also have an extended version of this when I have 10 minutes at night and an even longer version that involves masks on the weekends if y’all are interested? I am also in the works of a 5 minute makeup tutorial that may or may not involve a video….to be determined ;-) xoxoxo
p.s feel free to pin my sweet graphic that took me no time at all….just saying…..

Love this! Yes, I would love to know the ten minute routine and also a video. pretty much anything. Because you’re my favorite and beauty guru!

I use Image and Image Ageless products. I also use Strivectin cream. I use cetaphil as a cleanser. As you age, Vitamin C will be your best friend as it helps promote collagen. Image makes a great Vit. C mask and cream. A and D ointment is also an amazing moisturizer and healer if your skin feels like it needs some TLC.

I use Olay moisturizer every day, but I haven’t tried the regenerist line. Sounds like something I would like. Also, ya, you should show us more beauty routines, because you know way more about these than me X). Teach me the wayyyys!! Clarisonic is going on my Christmas wishlist.

I love this post, I always want to know what people use on their skin and what their nightly routine is. I confess, I don’t always wash my face at night. I know…blasphemous!! And why did I not get that clarisonic for anniversary. Dumb
BLovedBoston says
I have #2 & #3 on this list and love them both as well as the clairsonic!! I’ve gotten better about my nighttime routine but need to add in something like your new addition!! Great post doll!
Amy Florez {Baby Mama Juice} says
Ha ha! Love your graphic! What program did you use?! Love that gift set too. My clarisonic has gotten nasty because I keep it in the shower. I think it’s time for a new one!!!
Kathy @ Vodka and Soda says
the only time i extend my night routine is every sunday. my regular routine is me slapping on an oil cleanser, rinsing off, applying my hydrating serum, followed by argan oil, followed by night moisturizer and then eye cream. that’s it.
on sundays, i wash my face but then exfoliate, add a face mask and then all of the above. i love the face mask part – i get to kick back for 20mins and relax while the mask does its thang. then i do my nails and read. totally gets me ready for the week ahead.

I really like Olay products but haven’t tried the eye serum. Will have to check it out.

It sounds like we have very similar skin, so I definitely need to try that Neutrogena face wash – I’ve never seen any reviews on it! It probably would be perfect for me right now since my skin is breaking out teenager style.
Pamela {Sequins and Sea Breezes} says
I’m obsessed with my Clarisonic! Who would have guessed that it would be such a great product? And I just got the Careprost stuff and tried it for the first time last night. It makes me a little nervous but I used the tiniest amount. Wait, so is using Latisse supposed to have some side effect on Lasik? I probably should have read up on this stuff before using it huh?

Your posts always seem to come at the best times. Like I’m sitting around having a huge crisis about what exercise class to take, or what “cheap”, but stylish outfit to wear or what to do about my nighttime face regimen and you always ANSWER my questions!! Thanks :) I literally have been reading up on all sorts of face creams and washes this past week and now I need to go stock up.
xiomara @ Parkesdale says
I’ve been pondering whether to get one of those clarisonic face cleaners. I like my cetaphil face wash, but I really enjoy my ponds cream face wash. It leaves my face so soft.

Love my clarisonic and thanks for the product tips.

Love reading about other people’s regimens…also I will pin that graphic because I can only imagine how long that took, plus I would never have the patience to make that.
Caroline Fleenor says
Will those Olay products that you use work if you’re 33 and just started this whole anti-aging a year ago? I’ve used other Olay eye creams but I didn’t feel like they were working. I just don’t want crows feet and bags. :-/ Thanks so much for sharing all of this! :-) Hope that you’re having a great day too!
Helene in Between says
I would love to use latisse but I’m so scared it would change my eye color! also i need a clarisonic bc I am SO lazy.
Stacy G says
I love oil of olay’s CC eye cream. I use smartlash at night if I have that extra minute. I got an amazing deal on it on dermstore.com
Meagan says
I’m totally book marking this :) I don’t use anything on my skin at night.. I’ve never really had to. I don’t wear tons of make-up and I’ve always had decent skin. But I’ve noticed little bumps in certain areas lately so I’ve been thinking about finding something to properly clean my face in the evenings… This post is great, I trust your tips and since you have sensitive skin (so do I) I could probably use these too. Thanks!!
Joey says
I’m all about getting ish done quickly. Once I’m on the couch–there’s no way I’m mustering up the energy to do anything else. I actually try to “get ready for bed” before I make it to the couch. But even then-I’m lazy. I remove my makeup with coconut oil and a warm washcloth, then I use my clarisonic with an acne fighting face wash, and then I follow back up with coconut oil as a moisturizer.
Kerri Taylor says
ah this looks like so much work. sad right? i just started using face wipes a few years ago because i have white sheets. otherwise i never took my makeup off. i guess it helps i only wear eyeliner and mascara. BUT i know i need to do more. slacker and a half. also i’m obsessed with wrinkles. time to invest… thanks for the post! xo

I’m planning an update of my regimen too! And The Olay tone cream is on it. I flipping LOVE it. Got it in the Influenster box too.

yes i want to hear about all the routines, especially the makeup one! and the one with masks too.
i really need to start using stuff like this. i have written everything down and will go to the drugstore and buy them all lol.
i want one of those clarisonics, but yeah no way KC will let me buy it right now. maybe one day ;) how do you even get latisse? i like olay’s moisturiser and i had their other cream (the 7 signs of aging i have no idea which one) but it is all so very overwhelming when you’re standing in the drugstore looking at ALL of the products. so i’m just going to buy all of these.
Court @ Sweet Home Alabamian says
Soy face cleaner is my go to! I love it so so so so much!!! It’s perfect for my sensitive skin. NG is too harsh for my skin. Crazy, I know.
Latsyrc728 says
I want a Clarisonic so bad!! I am always using something different because I am always reviewing some product or using products from my sample boxes. I definitely have lazy nights though.

I am loving my Clarisonic for sure, I just can’t get enough of that SUPER clean and soft feeling it leaves my face with :) I love Fresh products too!

Haha! Nick is always asleep by the time I’m done washing my face, too. The Clarisonic is seriously the best thing I’ve ever bought and I’ve been wondering about the Olay Regenerist products. I have super sensitive skin so I’m glad to hear it works okay for you…. going to have to try it out finally!

I’m getting pretty low on my Philosophy face wash and I am so not looking forward to shelling out $30 for a bottle. I don’t think they sell that Neutrogena cleanser here, but I may have to look into it while I’m down south in two weeks! I soo badly want to try a lash serum, but I’m part afraid and part clueless about where to get them. Have you tried any other brands?

I need posts like these to kick me in the butt.
I’m so bad at skin care. I slept in my make up last night… again…

I love reading these things! My face has recently started freaking out, so I’m in search of a new skin care routine. I love that regenerist serum and have used it for the past ~8 years, but apparently my skin is changing, because it has been breaking me out lately! :( Thanks for posting and I’m totally interested in your weekend routine!

A++ on the graphic! I need a new Clarisonic-type gadget asap. It makes such a difference for sure!
Nadine Lynn says
I have been wanting to try the regenerist line and I think you finally pushed me into the yes I will! Some anti-aging stuff is just so damn expensive I am afraid to try it but if you give it your seal of approval then I know it is good!
At night I take my eye make up off using eye make up remover, then I wipe a neutrogena make up wipe over my face, then I wash my face with Shisheido Ibuki face wash, then the face softener, then I put argon oil under my eyes, then I use the Shisheido Ibuki moisturizer. (all the Shisheido stuff was in a kit I bought. Once it is gone, I will repurchase the cleanser and softener and use the moisturizer for day time but get the regenerist stuff for night!)
Becky M says
I use that same foaming cleanser and love it! I have heard awesome things about the clarasonic, but I always wonder how it would do with my eczema. I never get eczema on my face, but I wonder if it would irritate it at all.

I already have a clarisonic so I obviously don’t need another one, but I kind of want that gift set! What a good deal! I hear such good things about Olay but have never tried any of their products! I also want to try soo many fresh products!

I love my Clarisonic! It’s done WONDERS for the texture of my skin!!!!! It’s definitely worth the investment. I’ve started spending more on my skincare than any other beauty products b/c I feel like good skin makes me feel the best – whether I’m wearing makeup or not!
Lisa @ Ameliorer la Vie says
You’ve sold me on the Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Cleanser…I wouldn’t have thought that it would remove eye makeup! Also, I like that it’s non-drying…I have combination skin, so stuff that takes away the oil is usually too harsh for the rest of my face.

i love the olay regenerist line! i use the serum when i’m not testing out other stuff!

Great post Amanda!! I love love love my clarisonic!! I totally didn’t think I would but I do. So worth the money!! Skin care is so important. I always wash my makeup off at night!! It really makes a difference. We only got one face!!
PS-I tried the Fresh Soy cleanser, I couldn’t handle the smell. I know everyone loves it but the smell is horrible.
Liz @ Fitness Blondie says
I’m kind of disappointed in my Oil of Olay eye cream but my mom and grandma swear by the products so I will try what you use under your eyes next. I am almost out anyway. Also, I have an Olay brush that is similar to the Clarasonic. I have been meaning to try it so tonight I think I will!

Your night routine makes me feel like a total slacker! But that is all about to change once I pick up that amazing Clarisonic set!

Totally agree taking care of your skin is so important. Long-gone are the college days when I frequently fell asleep with makeup on! I use Nerium (anti-aging product) at night, never too soon to start!
I definitely want to try that cleanser. I have been looking for a better cleanser.
MarlaJan says
I loooooooooooove my clarisonic, plus, it’s leopard print with a red button. It definitely gets my makeup off better than using my hands alone! I was doing the oil cleansing method for awhile, but it started to feel like too much work. I too, have adopted a fairly quick nighttime routine!
