Three Practical Ways To Wear and Style Chambray Shirts

Can I tell you something?  I have had two chambray shirts in my closet forever and have never really found a way to wear them that looked good on me.  I just felt like they were boxy, not feminine and really did nothing for my figure.  Then I got this lightweight, most perfectly colored chambray shirt…….now I pretty much wear it once a week and I’ll show you how.  These tops can be styled for work, casual for running errands or pretty and feminine.

Tucked into a patterned or bright pencil skirt

I had so many pencil skirts laying around for work and they were getting pushed to the back of the closet due to lack of wearing.  Well, tuck those chambray shirts in and add some heels.  You have a polished and pulled together look.  Feel free to accessorize with a bright or sparkly necklace.

Tuck it into your favorite pair of white or colored skinnies.  This has been my weekend uniform as of late.

 

Add it to your favorite maxi

I couldn’t figure it out how to wear it and make it look feminine.  Well knot it up and throw on your favorite Summer maxi with your go to sandals.

  9. You already know I love the first look! I think I need to find a TX chambray weight… The one I have is thick, which was fine for MN, but I can only wear it like twice a winter here. And it’s hard to style unless it’s tucked in or left out. And I really thought that skirt was J Crew just like the neon pink one I was telling you about! F21?! Ha! Just a price difference of about $60, AND I had to iron the heck out of my ‘Crew every single time I wore it.

  22. That’s so funny you say that it all changed for you when you found a lightweight version. I had a heavier weight chambray in my closet for ages that I wanted to wear so badly but never looked quite right. Then bam, found a lighter one and everything changed, it’s in constant rotation. Love the three ways you styled this one!

  24. I think that’s the key; finding a light weight version. Mine is just a bit too heavy for the heat we’re experiencing. Almost wore it today, then looked at the forecast (90 degrees) and swiftly put it back on the hanger.

    Love it with the pencil skirt and white jeans are my fave thing to wear it with.

  30. I love the way you styled all three! That polka dot skirt is so cute! Would you believe I have yet to purchase one of these shirts? Button downs just don’t fit me right. If I buy it to fit my chest, the rest of the shirt is huge…and ummm otherwise it wouldn’t button all the way up. So I gave up.

  44. Well you should have busted those shirts out a long time ago because you’re rocking them! I love all these looks. I need to get a cute thin belt so I can recreate the white skinny jean look.   56. I always need advice when it comes to chambray tops. I swear I buy so many and rarely wear them. My favorite though is a polka dot one that I love pairing with pop of colored skinnies. It’s been so stinking hot up here though. Maybe I’ll try the pencil skirt! (:
