You know when you look back at your weekend and realize the entire time it revolved around food? Yes, that is exactly what mine looked like. It also revolved around banging my head against the wall when it comes to the behind the scenes of this blog. Anybody else use Squirrly for SEO? Let me know if you do, I have some questions. I also installed an Instagram feed on the bottom of my page and social sharing buttons for each post….you know all the things I did instead of writing posts…..anyways, linking up with B for her weekending linkup!
Friday I met up with some of my girlfriends for the reopening of Rooster and the Till in Seminole Heights. I have a full review coming at you. The space is absolutely gorgeous. It feels like a swank place you would find tucked away in NYC. The flavor of the dishes were scrap the plate delicious. However, with all the new trendy restaurants…..sizes were definitely on the tiny side. I’m glad I went with my girls and not Mark. He would not have been unimpressed with the 4 bite serving size. We had the best time catching up and laughing until our sides hurt.
Saturday was Marks bday so we decided to get a little change of scenery and drive down to Sarasota. First we had to stop at…..you guessed it Cakes by Ron to grab a few cupcakes. I have a problem. I know it.
I wanted to show him Siesta Key Beach which if any locals know…..it is the best beach in America. It is always a crowded beach but I didn’t realize there was a volleyball tournament going on…..so yeah….parking didn’t happen. We decided to continue down into the village and stopped by 3.14 Pi. Which happened to be a total hidden gem craft beer and gourmet pizza spot. The owners were sitting right next to us enjoying a mid day beverage, of course they were.
Siesta Key is a little slice of Old Florida. It reminds me of a much cleaned up and smaller version of Key West. Island life, cold drinks and good food.
Am I the only crazy one or do you see a bright wall and go…..yeah blogger fashion moment? Plus turquoise just photographs so well.
shorts Rag & Bone on major sale here also love this cutoff version here | Grey booties old but similar here and love these on sale here | Top sold out but similar here and brighter color here | aviators here
We meandered our way back up and quickly got cleaned up for his one birthday request, a steak sandwich at Bern’s. I gladly obliged. We got the short ribs appetizer, it changes every month. I recommend locals you go and try it. It had a spiced Moroccan sauce over them with a date and blue cheese muffin……it was out of this world.
Side bar. I also had my first slushie of my life this weekend on the free 7 11 day. Mark couldn’t believe I had never had one before, nothing groundbreaking just tasted like an Italian ice but it was helpful on the scorching hot day that it was.
Sunday was spent catching up on all the work that I ignored the early part of the weekend. Seriously, the weekends are just never long enough. Has anyone gotten their Nordstrom goodies yet? If you have your countdown till the 17th make sure you check my full shopping guide so you won’t miss out on the stellar deals! I hope everyone had a great weekend! xoxoxoxo

Nothing wrong with a weekend revolving around food! That rooster restaurant looks good, but what I really want is that cupcake! Haha. I really want to go to Siesta Key sometime. It sounds amazing!
What a fun weekend! I love Siesta Key! I haven’t been there in like 2 years but you just made me want to go back very soon! Love your outfit too, those booties are adorable! Happy Monday!

I’ve heard wonderful things about Siesta Key and I can see why–it’s beautiful! So glad that you guys had a good weekend doing another round of birthday celebrations!! Enjoy that cupcake girl–it looked yummy!!
I’m the same way when it comes to bright walls. You can’t pass up a good opportunity! Clearly I need that turquoise bike… so cute!
I’ve heard SO MANY good things about Siesta Key! We almost went there for our girls trip this year but went with Rosemary Beach. Definitely on this “someday” list! Looks like you had a great weekend!
a weekend of delish food is a great weekend to me :) glad you guys had fun!
My weekend revolved around food too! Haha What a fun weekend! You should totally add it to my Weekend Snapshots link-up post!
And I’m not sure about the squirrel one but I use WordPress SEO by Yoast and really like it!

All that food looks ahhhhmazing! And I still need to get my butt out to Siesta Key, such a gorgeous beach :-D
Have a fabulous week gurlie <3
Gahh I love Rooster & the Till! So much flavor in, I agree, tiny portions.
I always love seeing my hometown on your blog! It’s great to find new places to go thanks to you. Siesta is the best, isn’t it? So many fun restaurants to try, not to mention the gorgeous beach! Things can get a little crazy when there is a volleyball tournament, so I try to get a spot at one of the smaller beach accesses if my friends aren’t playing in the tournament.
stalking my nordstrom goodies like whoa. who doesn’t love stalking the mail people ha. looks like you had such a fun weekend! loving the pics by the turquoise wall too :) outfit + wall = perfection :) i wish we could have met up fri but it just went by in a whirlwind! happy monday love!

I love your mini getaway for Marks birthday and of course you had to stop to get that cupcake – they are worth it!!! All the food sounds amazing – Like I wish I was having those short ribs for breakfast lol!! xo, biana –BlovedBoston
Oooh alllll the food!!! YUM. Sometimes those weekends are just needed.
Happy belated birthday to Mark! Looks like the two of you had a great weekend.
I feel like every weekend revolves around food for me, haha! They are the best! Everything looks so delicious and Siesta Key is so cute!
Siesta Key looks amazing! I’m going to have to add it to my places to visit ASAP!

Hold on please. You have never had a slushie before?! I wish those shoes you are wearing were still available, they’re SO cute!!! Florida is basically made for blogging and I try to tell Josh that all of the time!
oooh i really like you in that blue color!
SO MUCH FOOD! That pizza looks simply amazing. Minneapolis had some wonderful pizza places… We have yet to find a great one in Dallas. Cane Rosso (you might have seen it on a million Food Network/Travel Network shows) is the best we have going for us and it’s entirely mediocre (at best) compared to Minneapolis. Sigh. Send me the one you pictured, along with a craft beer, k?
Your statement about that restaurant and Mark made me laugh lol. Chris would not like a 4 bite serving size either. He would have said that we need to stop to get food. Looks like you guys had a fab weekend though! All of that food looks delicious and I love your outfit!! :-) Can I ask you how you designed your blog? Like your layout? Because I want to change mine and none of the free WordPress themes lay things out the way that I want. Let me know. :-)
Looks like an amazing weekend! LOVE your grey heels! And you look gorg in front of that turquoise wall, duh ;)
Siesta Key is my absolute favorite beach in America. I’m so glad they’re renovating it so hopefully parking will be a little easier. We always stop off at the village on our way out to grab a daiquiri at Daiquiri Deck and then some oysters and lunch at SKOB. In fact, I’m itching to pay another visit this year before summer is over.
Looks like you had a jam packed weekend! Love Siesta Key Beach and have always wanted to try Rooster and the Till. Will have to do that soon! xx

Girl I feel like my LIFE revolves around food hah!
Nothing wrong with eating until your hearts content during the weekends, also calories don’t count during birthday month :)! Loving your outfit against the turquoise wall, such a blogger fashion moment, it needed it happen!
Your pictures are always so full of life!
Glad the celebration continues :)
Your first slushie?! Welcome to the world, my friend. :) That was like my one indulgence as a kid – any time my parents would stop at the convenience store to pick up a newspaper, I would be yelling in the backseat “CAN I GET A SLURPEE?!!!!!” Anyways, this looks like such a fun weekend! Okay, I have to ask – would an area like Sarasota/Siesta Key be something that you could visit and stay for a long weekend if you’re an out-of-towner like me?
Those gray booties are amazingggg! Love them. Weekends revolving around food + birthdays really are the best :)
weekends revolving around food = perfection! Love your casual look of denim shorts + a tee and then the fun shoes!
Sounds like a fun weekend! So many great food places that I need to try!
Life is short, let’s eat. And then do 6x the amount of cardio the following week because we needed that cupcake. (; Loving your adorable peplum top! (:
HAHAH I have totally had weekends only revolve around food before… nothign wrong with that!

Weekends that revolve around food are the best in my opinion. Especially when it looks as good as the food you ate. That blue bike is so cute! Glad you had a good weekend! I hope you have a great Monday.
I loveeeee Sarasota! I wish those R&B shorts were in my size! I should have grabbed them weeks ago ;)

What a slice of heaven for a day trip and perfect way to celebrate his birthday!! Also, weekends revolving around food are my fave. I am not even ashamed of how much I love to eat, ha ha!
Ah, the Nordstrom sale is killing me. I WANT IT ALL! Of course my wish list is longest for baby boy (okay, Mia’s will always be the longest, if I’m being honest here. Why is it so much more fun to shop for the babes?!)
I feel like my whole life revolves around food… Is that bad!?? Lol!! Your weekend looks amazing girl! So jealous of those super cute grey booties!!! And I totally forgot my free slurpie!!!!so mad!!! I’ll just live through you though! ;)

Haha! Love that you had never had a slushie. I hadn’t had one since I was a kid, but I got one at the movies a couple of months ago. They were better when I was little… =)
All of your food is looking quite delicious!!!!!!!! We don’t have a 7 11 around here so I didn’t get my free slushy. Boo!!! You seriously need to stop tempting me with this Nordstrom sale! I managed to stay off their site all weekend but now I want to stalk again. I have problems. I love all the beachy pictures. That is the kind of beach town I love!
Siesta Key is amazing. The most beautiful beach ever!
YES bright wall = time for a pic!! can’t help it! looks like a very fun filled weekend!
What a great weekend! That turquoise wall is perfect for outfit photos! Also, all your food looks delicious! Hope you have a great week! xo
um, my whole life revolves around food. hahaha. jk. but seriously, all the food looks amazing. i want it all.
Looks like a great weekend and the food looks relish.. especially that cupcake!! xo
So a few things…I don’t use Squirrly so I can’t answer any questions but I do use WordPress SEO by Yoast and they do a great job. There are tons of tutorials on how to set everything up.
I’ve wanted to go to Sarasota for years now! I’ve heard the beaches are gorgeous. What a life to enjoy a mid-day beer in your beach town restaurant!
Lastly, not sure if you have any in FL but if you can ever find somewhere that sells Slush Puppies (has to be that brand!) you have to get one. They are the best!
That food! The blue bicycle…,so fun.
Please write a tutorial on how to add social media buttons and IG feed to blog posts!!
Looks like an absolutely awesome weekend!
