This Post Goes Out To The “Non-Blogger” Readers
September 1, 2015This November coming up I will officially be celebrating my two year blog anniversary. I cannot believe how the time has flown. Blogging has opened the doors for so many opportunities and allowed me to get to know so many amazing women. I pretty much text/snap/email at least 10 or more bloggers on a daily basis. I have always loved writing and researching everything to the extreme (if you haven’t noticed). Having this outlet to share my life and finds has been such a fulfilling experience.
Before I had my own blog, I was what you would consider a “closet” reader. I didn’t have my own blog but would read 5-10 blogs on a daily basis. I always read Christina’s, Helene, Cely (she is hilarious) Whitney (she has updated in a long time) and other random fitness blogs. I would read their words and stories and wanted to respond but I felt like since I wasn’t a blogger…..could I do that? Like who is this random stalker girl who is reading their blog and writing a comment. I felt so awkward. Here is the thing, it’s not awkward at all, I promise!
This is my reach out to all the “non-bloggers” who read blogs. I know exactly what you are doing right now. Sitting at work, needing a ten minute break to find some local inspiration on the new restaurant that opened. Or you didn’t know that Sephora is having a sale but hello now you do after that post and you are totally going to pull the trigger on the glamglow mask. Or maybe you just need a good laugh in between your meetings. That was me. I know you are out there.
Here is my Public Service Announcement.
Reach out. Tell me who you are. What things about my blog keep you coming back for more? Do you like the fitness posts, product reviews, local restaurant spots, or my general musings about running into garage doors? Let me know!
I can’t tell you how excited I get when I get an email from someone out in the Midwest who is a fellow barre addict or that picked up one of my hippie girl products and is totally digging it. Or someone who just likes coming for a daily laugh. It makes my day when they reach out and tell me why they identify with what I have to say and what keeps them coming back. My first question usually back to them is, “tell me how you stumbled on my site?” I always love to know through which avenue lead to this little ole spot of mine.
So here is my public service announcement for the day. We are not all bloggers who read blogs. I used to be part of the “non-bloggers club” if you will. I never felt like I could comment on someones blog because I felt super awkward about it. Please comment! I respond to every single email. I love getting to know everyone who stops by. If you still feel weird about commenting (which I hope by now you know is totally 100% fine please do!) shoot me an email [email protected]
Tell me what posts you like reading the best. Which posts you roll your eyes and skip over. What keeps you coming back for more and if you like me telling you random Amanda life musings. This goes for all the blogging gals as well. Stop by and give me some feedback. I love hearing what people like and don’t like.
Now to all my “non-bloggers” out there, if you are totally digging the blog, I ask this of you. Please share it with your friends! Tweet about it, share it on your Facebook, email your fellow barre addicts about it. Share the love. I promise there is plenty of me to go around. At the bottom of every blog post there is a + Share sign. Click it and you can see all the ways you can share your favorite daily read over here ;-)
I hope this has helped! Trust me I was right there with you and I promise, I am always excited to hear from you. I hope you have a fabulous day!! xoxoxo

One of my favorite parts of blogging is connecting with women, readers or not. Nothing makes me happier than hearing from a reader and giving them advice about blogging, life abroad, etc. Great post, love!

I remember back when I was a non-blogger! It definitely felt weird to comment back then but it was always fun reading what everyone had to say!

I remember my first comment, it felt sooooo awkward because I didn’t have blog. I read a ton of them but rarely commented, fun post for those AWESOME ladies out there :)!
Biana @ Blovedboston says
I love when I get a friend email me about a post I did that totally resonated with her – makes me feel so good, even more so when it’s someone I don’t know!! xo, Biana –BlovedBoston

I agree that it’s awesome when you get an email from a new reader! It’s exciting, and it’s fun to get to know someone new, too!
Kate @ Green Fashionista says
I remember before I started blogging myself, and even after I started blogging I had no idea how important commenting was. And then I didn’t know I had to respond to the comments on my own blog *whoops*. Such a fantastic group of women in this bloggiverse :)
Ashley says
Hi! I still read your blog daily and love it! I will admit I kind of stopped commenting because I felt weird since I wasn’t a blogger myself – not sure why! But after reading this maybe I’ll comment more ☺️ And I had no idea about the sephora sale until your post yesterday! So thanks!
kerri @ cheshire kat says
ah i remember the days of being a nonblogger. ain’t nothing wrong with that! inspirational and fun. you know i heart all your posts :)

I ADORE this post. first, i’m honored that you read me, seriously that makes my day. second this is so spot on. sometimes we forget there are non bloggers reading this. man i love this post!!!
JennC says
I am a nonblogger who reads you (and others!) regularly. I love reading stories about your daily life and fashion posts. Lately, I’ve been digging travel posts because I’m itching to get away. I rarely leave comments, but read every article. It always feels so awkward to leave random comments. Like, heyyyyy I’ve been stalking your blog for years and I feel like we have a bunch of things in common because I know all about you and you know nothing about me…Weird. I’ve thought about starting my own, but I don’t think I have the time available to dedicate towards it, so I stay in the nonblogger stalker zone.
Lindsay says
I felt like the biggest creeper before I started my own blog, but who cares! We all blog for a reason, and I love when someone who doesn’t blog reaches out!
Brittany says
Love this Amanda! I too was a blog stalker before I started blogging. This post articulates exactly what non-blogger readers should know and how they can help up out
Trish @ The Trish List says
Such a great post and point of view. I think we sometimes do forget not all of our readers are bloggers and that can be a bit daunting for our non-blogging friends! Well done!
Darcy says
This was totally me for over a year before starting my own! I always wanted to comment on a blog, but never felt comfortable enough doing so!

I was totally a blogger stalker before I started commenting and even before I blogged myself. It can be awkward leaving a comment as a new blog reader. There are many bloggers who don’t respond to comments at all and that can make a reader feel un-welcomed. This is such a wonderful post for all those non-blogging people. Well done my friend!
Ashley says
I totally read a few blogs before starting my own too- but never commented/reached out! I LOVE hearing from my readers who aren’t bloggers themselves; great perspective to get. :)
Happy Tuesday, doll!

I’ve been reading your blog for a while, but I don’t remember how I stumbled on it initially (maybe from Biana, but I don’t remember how I found her either!). I’m from Florida originally (FSU alum, I live in NC now), so when I saw that you live in Florida, I was interested in your blog. I love your fitness posts, and I think your Friday posts are hilarious. I like the barre posts too – I tried Pure Barre for a while, but the studio I went to kept raising their prices, and it just got too expensive.
Missy says
I’ve been reading since I started pure barre in January (still going strong, bought a year!) as I was googling for reviews. I have read everyday since. My favorite things are the shopping guides and Fridays! I have purchased several things you have put on here, including the Box of Style which I can’t wait to see what is in it! You inspired me to make my own blog when my boyfriend and I broke up and I am loving every minute of it!
Caroline @ Windy City Chic says
Fun post!! I definitely enjoy hearing from new people makes me feel like one of the cool kids. Anyway… Your posts always inspire me in some way so thank you so much for that. <3

I love getting comments and emails from non-bloggers! It totally makes my day. I too was one of those non-bloggers stalking in the background afraid to comment. I hope this post inspires many to come out of the shadows and reach out!
Karly says
Great post, girlfriend! I used to be in the same boat, and I sure wish other non-bloggers (not including my mom … ha!) would reach out to us more!

I love getting comments and emails from non-bloggers! This was a great idea to reach out like this via post!

I remember back when I used to creep around on blogs before I was a blogger. I wouldn’t have dare left a comment back then because I figure…why would this person want to hear from me? They don’t care. I envied all the “friends” that left them daily comments though. I started mine in October of 2012 because I wanted a piece of that action and haven’t looked back!!! Can’t remember if you commented on my blog or I commented on your blog first…but I sure am glad we connected :)
The Southern Thing says
This is such a great reminder that not all blog readers are bloggers. I was a non blogging blog reader myself for years before I started blogging. I also never commented, now I wish I did because bloggers really don’t think it’s weird at all!
Traci @ Waltz Me To Heaven says
Comments are great! I’m always excited when we get them especially from non-bloggers. I LOVE your fitness posts and your funnies. Your wedding/honeymoon posts were amazing. We just celebrated one year so it is impressive to see how much you have done in two years!

I love your fitness posts! I just love barre but don’t currently belong to a studio. I would love it if you did some kind of a barre video! I wish I lived closer so I could take one of your classes! I don’t really wear makeup so a lot of the product posts are sort of lost on me.
I don’t even remember how I found your blog, but I’m sure it was through another blog! I found Biana’s blog through yours, which is another of my daily reads since I also live in Boston!
I’ve never commented before, so thanks for this post! :)
Julia @ Grace Makes New says
Love this! I read blogs for a while before I started mine, and I never commented either for this reason!

We love hearing from non bloggers! We call them real people. It’s so fun to know that we reach outside our little community of bloggers. Great post!

Hey! I am a non-blogger and possibly a stalker :) I love reading your blog! I have been receiving your email updates for a long time! I honestly can’t tell you how I stumbled across your blog. I am not sure what draws me to your blog. We live totally different lifestyles. I am a plain Jane girl from central Kansas. I have a boring 8-5 job. I don’t have a sense of fashion, at all! I have barely been out of Kansas in my 37 years of life. I guess I follow you because, I live vicariously through you!!! Thank you for sharing you life with us!!!

This is such a great post, Amanda! I was a blog reader before starting my own as well, but never commented or reached out. It’s so great hearing from non-bloggers, it really provides a different angle!

YES! Love this! I was just like you when I was a non-blogger. I couldn’t even comprehend commenting because I thought it would be totally weird. Even for my first 6 months of blogging with my own blog (I was real slow on this learning curve) I didn’t engage much with other bloggers because I didn’t understand the community that is blogging. You don’t have to be a blogger to be engaged in the community! So ditto to everything you said, and get out there and interact. It makes everything more fun!
Jess says
I have been reading blogs for years and stumbled on yours through a comment somewhere I’m sure about a year ago. I have actually dropped most blogs now but enjoy coming back here for fashion inspiration and the friday posts.
I think we have similar taste in fashion and music so I think that’s what draws me back each day.

Hello from Newfoundland, Canada! Confession I subscribe to about 40 blogs. Shocking I know, but I love them so and I am totally a closet reader. Most of my friends don’t know. I found you through a guest post you did about 10 months ago and have been hooked ever since. I love that your blog feels fresh and its kind of like we have a daily coffee break or water cooler chat relationship. Please keep doing what you are doing.
Amanda says
I obviously like the embarrassing stories best. ;)
I miss all your silly posts! I am not very trendy so sometimes I check out the post but might not say anything. Is that creeper-ish??? lol
Emily @ Martinis & Bikinis says
Great little piece of encouragement for the non-bloggers! It would be great to know who all is reading and what their honest likes and dislikes are.
Julia says
Hi Amanda! I’m the red head teenage girl that comes to your barre class every week. I absolutely love your blog. Some of my favorite posts are the ones you post on Friday. I love looking and trying out the new recipes and workouts that you post. I had fun LTBing with you tonight. See you at the barre!

Cute post!! I love to hear things from my readers too!! Love it!

I’ve been following your blog for almost a year and I LOVE that even as you grow you haven’t changed at all. You’re still honest, you still respond all the time, and you always have fantastic content. I didn’t get really serious about my blog until the spring of 2014. Before, I had played around with some things, all of which were terrible, and then bam, one day I found myself. I saw on Snapchat someone said you were the reason they felt inspired to start blogging. What an awesome feeling! Never change girl, you have a heart of gold! (:
Amanda says
Awesome post girl – I too used to be a closet reader, I read blogs for a year or two without saying anything. I agree – all non bloggers should reach out! I got an email from a girl fro Spain the other day who read my blog and I was so excited, haha.
Nikki says
I love how encouraging this post is for all the non-bloggers. It’s awesome that you don’t have to be a blogger to be apart of the community, it’s like everyone can sit with us :)! I love hearing about all your random adventures in Florida, but I love seeing your product posts because I usually end up buying the product…my wallet doesn’t like you much, but she’ll get over it!
kristen says
love this post girl! i used to read a couple of super big blogs before i started, but it wasn’t until i started blogging that i found the smaller but still amazing and awesome bloggers, and i love it!
Tabitha Lee says
I love this post and your blog, of course! I am totally going to share it. I know there are quite a few people in my real that read my blog and never comment. I think this is the perfect way to let them know that it is ok for them to engage too! Plus, you never know who is reading in silence. Blogging is about community and I believe you are part of that community if you are reading blogs regardless of whether or not you have your own.
Meghan @ Champagne and Suburbs says
I love this so much! I am always shocked when people tell me they read my blog because I sometimes get in a bubble. I think it’s only the people who comment! So, great post! xo
Gina says
Very cool! Such a great way to make the readers who aren’t bloggers feel welcome and comfortable voicing themselves. Kudos!
