I think the number one piece in my closet that when I put on I feel instantly put together, is a little black dress. True story, when I moved in with Mark and had to downsize my wardrobe, I cleaned out probably half of my closet. My very patient mother sat in my oversized pink chair with a glass of wine in hand and I tried on all my previous going out clothes. I had to prove that they still fit and I looked good in them before they were gifted off to my friends or moved along. I think I gave my mother a mini heart attack when she saw bodycon after bodycon dress. Most of which did not pass the fingertip rule. You know what I’m talking about. Stand straight and hang your arms by your side, if the skirt is higher than where your fingertips meet…..it’s probably too short. I had quite a few that I had to bend straight down to pick something up. No bending over in those bad boys.
My style has definitely changed as I’ve matured and my social life is slightly different. This black dress from Three Dots has quickly been my favorite go to dress. No lie I probably wear it once a week. It runs true to size, I’m wearing a small in it.

What I love about this dress is the fit and fabric. It is thick enough to suck you in but is appropriate to wear to work because it doesn’t show every line. Basically you can wear lace undies and nobody will know. It is an appropriate length and has a great shape. I wear it all ways. To work with ballet flats, dress it up for happy hour with heels, perfect for the holidays with this necklace or casual weekend wear with these sandals and this jacket. You will find yourself reaching for it more than you will know.
I will say that the price point is up there but the ROI has definitely been worth it. Plus, Three Dots is manufactured in the United States. I always try to support American labels when possible. The quality is on point. I have washed and lightly fluffed for a few minutes and it comes out looking perfect. I am a no dry cleaning if possible kind of gal and this dress fits into that lifestyle mantra. If you are looking for a great staple wardrobe piece that will last over many seasons, you will not regret this purchase. Sigh, the fingertip rule. I’m 5’10 and I usually wear an S or a 4 in dresses. Almost every dress is too short. I have accepted my fate.
Dry cleaning only on a label is like the kiss of death. lol I too like my clothes as low maintenance as possible. (;
Oh college Nadine….she thought she could get away with a lot more than she realistically did hahaha. I have gotten rid of so many way too low tops from that crazy girl. You cannot go wrong with a LBD for any season! Classic perfection!
