Fringe Skirts – The Fringe Trend Is Here to Stay

January 21, 2016
This post may contain affiliate links. Purchasing through them help support this website.

I have been dipping my toe into the fringe trend lately.  I was initially hesitant to purchase any fringe items because I thought it was a trend that was not going to stay around for that long.  I was wrong.  My thought is if you pair one fringe piece and keep the rest of your outfit pretty basic, then you won’t fall into the trap of looking like a 70’s Halloween costume.  You know what I mean?  No flares, aviators and braids when wearing fringe.  It will just look like you’re going for a theme.

I have been searching for fringe skirts that are long enough, the fringe lays flat but still has a good swing to it.  I was finding them but they were all a couple hundred dollars and I just wasn’t ready for that commitment.  So naturally I looked to my favorite wallet friendly on point with trends designer and wouldn’t you know it….. BB Dakota nailed  it.  I’m not an affiliate for them or anything, even though I wouldn’t say no lol.  I just really dig the brand and price range for pieces.  Plus, Shopbop carries them so  yeah Amazon Prime and all. I paired it with this chunky sweater which is incredibly soft and my favorite Joie booties which Nordstrom is price matching right now, jump on it.  I will say the skirt runs small, so size up.  I’m usually a 4 in skirts but I have wide hips.  I went with a 6 in it and it fits perfectly.

When I posted this look to my instagram it got so much great feedback but one comment stuck out about having some place to wear it to. Honestly, I wore it out with my Patriots shirt the other day to watch the game.  Just rock it.  I was waiting for a comment from Mark when I walked out in it and it didn’t even raise an eyebrow.  So either he is totally getting used to my fashion or he wants dinner cooked.  I can’t tell you which one is correct.   It would wear with tights and boots to make it Winter worthy or tuck it away for the Spring.  At that price point you will be happy you did.

Are you down with the fringe trend?  If so what pieces do you own?  Hope everyone is having a fab week!  Don’t forget about my Stiks cosmetics giveaway!  xoxoxo

You rock that fringe so well! I’ve seen the trend everywhere but it’s probably not something I would try. However, your post is making me second guess that.. It’s so cute!

I like the flat lay of this skirt on you – it’s really awesome, not to mention the length is so appropriate for a lot of things!! xo, Biana –BlovedBoston

That skirt is so great, love the fringe. And the wall makes your outfit pop. My husband doesn’t bat an eye at my outfit choices, but he does always provide feedback. Not that I always take it!

Ok A) Love, love, love this look! The skirt, the sweater, the boots – love it all! B) The comment about Mark sounds exactly like Nathan! He has learned to just keep his mouth shut about what I wear because um hi, you sir only have good style because I got ahold of you and took you out of basketball shorts. So your opinion is not needed, thank you. He is probably loving this pregnancy because it means my wardrobe is pretty basic!!

LOVE this! I kind of want to order it now even though I won’t be able to wear it till June/July… will fringe still be ‘in’ then?! Haha

This outfit looks so good on you – I love how you paired it with a chunky sweater. I haven’t bought anything fringe yet, but I am admiring everyone else that has!

I know fringe is in, but can’t find a piece that I like or would work for me. The hunt continues…

You completely rock it, I’d take this fringe on a road trip out on the town in Nashville! Once the weather gets warmer of course. :)

That skirt is so cute on you!!! I like the way you had paired it with the fur vest too. I think a little fringe can always be in style with the right outfit! Those boots are to die for!

As I told you on the insta, I love that skirt! I have no fringe stuff and i think this will be the piece for me. I will be pairing it similarly as well! My friend has a long leather fringe vest that is her mom’s vintage from the 70’s and I am so jealous!

I’ve never been a fringe girl but you make it look awesome! And seriously, I want legs like yours. I would need a completely different skin color but one can dream! Ha! My ancestral British roots are beyond pale.

That outfit is fabulous! I’ve always loved fringed things like purses but you’re right there’s a certain way it needs to be worked into the outfit or else it can look like a costume.

Obsessed with this skirt and with the fringe trend! I actually haven’t bought anything fringe-y yet — mainly because I can’t decide what I want! I’ve seen skirts, bags and shoes and I want them all! Just saw a gorgeous fringe skirt from J.Crew and totally fell in love!
