Back to Reality From the Holiday Weekend

Hello my loves.  Is everyone pretty much back to reality from the long holiday weekend?  If you followed along on snapchat you might have seen that Mark and I were up in NYC for our birthday weekends.  My birthday is the 5th (yesterday!!) and Mark’s the 11th.  We usually head off somewhere fun for the long weekend to celebrate and relax.  New York was perfect this past weekend.  The weather was not scorching (which I was nervous about) we were able to walk the entire time and not melt.  Actually, all day on Saturday we pretty much just walked for hours in Central park.  I had no idea there was so much in there.  I really wanted to rent a paddle boat but dang the lines were crazy long.  Next time we will definitely get up earlier and check that out.  We also checked out a Broadway show.  If you are ever in the city, I highly recommend checking out School of Rock. It was completely worth it.  Plus, all the kids played the instruments in it.  Extremely impressive and highly entertaining the entire time.

We had such a great time just exploring the city and not having much of a time table.  My sister came in with her kiddos and I love soaking up as much time with those munchkins as possible.  We also walked them all the way down and across the High Line.  Have you checked that yet?  It’s an old converted railway that is now a pedestrian footway that is lined with fun sights and it ends in the Meat Packing district where we stopped for lunch.  Then through Chelsea and back up to midtown.  Those kids were troopers.

Mark and I also had dinner at Quality Meats which is the restaurant we went to the night we got engaged.  It did not disappoint.

We stayed at the Knickerbocker Hotel which has been the best location out of any of the hotels we’ve stayed at so far.  I will have a full review but let me give you a quick preview.  Let’s just talk about this rooftop bar overlooking Times Square.  I don’t think you can be any closer to seeing the NYE ball.

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and time off.  This Summer is really flying by right?  Make sure you are getting some time to soak in the Summertime living.  Also, have you checked out my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Preview post yet?  We are less than two weeks away till the sale goes live!  What do you have on your shopping list?

So glad y’all had fun! Central Park is so huge, it’s easy to hide all of the cool things inside, and so many are off the beaten path. I’m shocked the kids walked the whole High Line – they’re super kids!
