Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend and are staying warm! I know that when it gets down into the 30’s in Florida, I can only imagine what’s going on with my neighbors to the North. With my end of the year review, I got a ton of feedback from you that some of your favorite posts to read were my photography tutorials. I am so excited to hear that because they are some of my favorites to write! It is probably the teacher in me. Remember, I am completely self-taught. If I can do this, so...

I think it is safe to say, one of the biggest challenges when it comes to blogging is bribing getting someone to take your pictures. Blogging is such a visual platform. Words that tell a story and draw you in are the fundamentals. However, pictures are what ultimately pull it all together. I can tell you about a product/outfit/tutorial but I guarantee I will lose your interest if there are just words on a screen with nothing stimulating to look at. When you work full time and have minimal hours of shootable light at the end of the day it, unfortunately,...
I have had some much fun putting together this blogging photography series for everyone. Today we are putting it all together and talking about how to shoot in manual mode exclusively. If you have not already viewed my other photography tutorials, I insist you start there otherwise, this may not make sense. If you only have time for one, start by reading how to achieve that blurry background in your pictures HERE. You can also click this blogging freebies tab HERE for the complete tutorials list. Remember, I am completely self taught. If I can do this; so can...
Back at you to complete the triad of manual settings. We have talked about aperture to achieve that blurry background, ISO to find the perfect lighting balance and now we are finishing up with shutter speed. I insist you read the two previous posts so that you are up to speed with this tutorial. Remember I am completely self taught. If I can do this, so can you. My goals are for you to stop shooting in automatic and really get out there and practice in manual mode. Seriously, it is so exciting to finally get those pictures that...
Back at you as promised for this photography mini series about how to use your camera with manual settings. The first week we talked about how to avoid photography blunders, last week I showed you how to achieve that blurry background by working with aperture and this week we are going to talk about ISO settings. Mini refresher, manual mode has 3 main settings, shutter speed, aperture and ISO. If you didn’t read last weeks post, I insist you do to now so you will be up to speed for today. I’m going to show you what I think...
I really enjoyed writing the post last week about blogging fashion blunders. I think it still resonates with people even if they aren’t bloggers because it hits on photography and how to capture the pictures that you want. I got such great feedback that I thought I would continue on with some photography basics. Once again, I am not a trained photographer so for you that are, this is a totally basics post. I am completely self taught and I’m a teacher at heart (between the college I teach at and Pure Barre) so y’all know that I love...
Hello hello! I was going through my archives the other day and I realized that I used to make really great tutorial blogger content especially when it came to photography. I put a poll on my stories and the overwhelming feedback was that yes people wanted me to create that kind of content again. I don’t fancy myself as a cutting edge content creator. I am amazed at what people are creating online. I do think I am researched and can help give guidance to the people who have fun making content but don’t take themselves too seriously....
Happy Wednesday dolls! I hope everyone had a great weekend and week so far. My brother was in town and then my parents came up so I got lots of great family time in. My brother is really into all the camera and video gear. We took his drone out for a spin and seriously that is some next level stuff. I would love to know how to fly that thing for vacation shots. So it has been in the 90’s here every day and I am just ready for a little break in the weather. I ordered...
