What To Do and See In Mykonos Town Greece

Let’s talk about the last leg of the Honeymoon now, Mykonos Town Greece. I have had a lot of people ask if it is worth it to go and my answer is, it depends on what you are looking for in your vacation. Santorini as fully discussed in this post, is calm and peaceful. Mykonos is bustling and when you sit down to any restaurant, they hand you the wifi code. From hiring cars through sites like rental-center-crete.com, in the hopes of seeing what Crete has to offer to having a relaxing time in Santorini, Greece is just a great place to go on vacation, regardless of which Island you visit.

So if you want to be disconnected and just be……stay in Santorini. If you need a little more excitement, then head over to Mykonos. All pictures in this post were captured by yours truly.

How to get to Mykonos

It all depends on where you are starting from. We were already in Santorini so we took an actual high speed ferry….like it actually was fast for this one and we were there in 2 hours. You can also fly between the islands. Once again when we landed in the port, we had prearranged for our hotel to pick us up. I highly recommend that and read about it here why I do.

Where to Stay

I recommend staying close to Mykonos town. Our hotel was less than a mile away from the port and the town. Our hotel Cavo Tagoo was absolutely stunning. It was actually one of the main reasons why we loved Mykonos. It was over the top luxurious.

The hotel had a Lexus SUV car service that would pick you up and drop you off at Mykonos town. You could walk it but the roads are pretty windy there. The breakfast every morning looked like a wedding spread.

Then let’s talk about this pool view.

What To Do

Go to the beaches

We ended up meeting the sweetest couple that we hung out with the majority of time in Mykonos. They rented a car and we buzzed around the island with them. I think for the day it is totally worth to rent one. That way you can see all the beaches that the island has to offer.

Panarmos

Secluded paradise. Swim in the Aegan sea.

Super Paradise

Super Paradise

This is supposed to be the party beach. Perhaps it was a little more tame because we went in May but I’ve seen crazier beach parties. You can rent a lounge chair for 4 euros which is worth it to be able to hang out for a few hours. Just a warning…..it is a nude beach if you care to partake. We clearly didn’t but there were a few views that I wish I could erase from my memory….

Psarous Beach.

The south side of the island. This is where the famous restaurant Nammos is. The beach itself is not that big but the views onto the water and the yachts was pretty incredible.

Catch a Sunset by the Windmills

They really are beautiful and a sight to see.

Where to Eat

The Old City is definitely a port city. There are tons of people and shopping. It feels like a cruise ship port if that makes sense. Lots of places to eat, grab a drink and they have quite the nightlife. Mykonos is a large hub for the Gay community so there is a lot of pride flags and techno bumping through the streets at night. Definitely lively.

My Two Favorite Restaurants

For quick, delicious and affordable was Pepper. I got the cheese stuffed burgers. So good.

For a romantic dinner go to Avra. This is still one of my favorite meals of the trip plus the outside garden view is so quaint.

Overall take away points. If you have the time, Mykonos Town is worth checking out. If you need the hustle and bustle for vacations, then there is plenty to do. We wished we did one less night in Mykonos and one more day in Santorini. However, we are happy we did both. It you are strapped for time, then just stay and soak up everything in Santorini.

I hope you liked my recaps of Greece. I have lots of other posts coming your way about how to travel in Europe, what to bring, how to pack and the ins and outs of European travel. I have really had no desire to go to Greece but now I really want to go. I’m not much of a beach person as I can only lie out for 3 hours at a time. Otherwise, I usually get sun poison. Beautiful pictures. That resort is so amazing.

There you go rocking that bright pink color again! Greece looks simply wonderful. I still can’t get over all the crisp white buildings. And that last dish you posted with the pasta? Yeah, I’d like that for breakfast right now, please.
