No.1 Start Chugging That Water
I mean it. Get a water bottle or my newest obsession is a water cup with a straw. First thing you do when you wake up is drink a full one. One down. This is the one
I currently tote around. Naturally since I only seem to shop via Amazon Prime now. It is 24 oz and much easier to suck down than the cheap well drinks from those prior younger college years.
We all know the benefits of water right? Here are the ones I want to highlight.
-Helps flush out basically everything including fat and toxins.
-Majority of times when you think you’re hungry you are actually thirsty.
-Your skin will thank you.
-If you’re drinking water you don’t have time to be filling up on other forms of liquid calories. Which brings me to my next point.
No. 2 Don’t Drink Your Calories
I am not a calorie counter at all. I govern more by the philosophy of portion control. However I know the majority of you know this but here is a quick refresher. This is on a very basic level. It is not this completely black and white but it gives you a rough estimate.
If that didn’t sink in this definitely will.
We do a lot of mindless calorie consuming throughout the day. The biggest offender is serving sizes of calorie drinks. Majority of serving sizes are 8oz and most packaging is sometimes 2-3 times that. Looking at labels is so important. Finally they have started putting serving size vs the entire content size on most products. Not drinking calories is one of the best ways to kickstart this bathing suit ready season.
No. 3. Rev Up The Cardio & Ab Work
Get those workouts in. I am loving this one
right now. Scissor Crunches and Burpees….yeah that should do it. This is the time I start adding a few early morning
No. 4 Get The Junk Out of Your House
If it’s there you’ll eat it. Out of sight out of mind. Tell that to these.
No. 5 Cut Out the Alcohol
Back to that original idea of not drinking extra calories. Plus you know how I feel about red wine. It requires its friends to come along Cheese & Crackers. Now Cheese & Crackers aren’t exactly low calorie especially when you eat almost an entire wheel of cheese and box of Wheat Thins in one sitting.
No. 6 Try One Meatless Day
Try it. These are the days I load up of fresh salads, veggies, hummus, beans and quinoa.
No. 7 Eat Top Heavy
Try stacking your meals in reverse. Hearty breakfast with small high protein snacks in the late morning. Lunch with salad and complex carbs and a light dinner. Your body will be processing the calories throughout the day and you’ll sleep without such a full calorie laden stomach from a large dinner.
No. 8 Cut Back on the Sugar & Processed Foods
We are talking about bathing suits again remember. #4 up above I’m talking about you. Now is the time to really make that commitment of cutting the Fast Food out of your diet for good. If you can’t do it by just by reading this…..look at this picture. Burgers and Fries left out for years. They haven’t molded or even shrunk. They look exactly the same. That cutoff portion says 4/22/2010.
No. 9 Make 3 Small Substitutions Everyday
Instead of the soda go with water. Skip the cheese on your sandwich. Don’t eat the bread that comes with your Panera lunch. Pass on the side of chips. Dressing on the side. All these little things throughout the day really add up in the end!
No. 10 Go Bathing Suit Shopping
Nothing is more motivating than standing underneath the fluorescent lights in a Target dressing room am I right? Here are a few I’ve had my eye on!
