Previewing Trends For Spring & Summer Dresses Part 2
April 24, 2014We are back to round out the trends for this upcoming Spring and Summer season. Part 1 was already covered here. To recap we talked about cutout dresses and feminine touches like lace and eyelet. Moving on lets round out the top five trends.
Maxi Dresses
Okay I think this trend is definitely here to stay. I was a little iffy about them last year but once you put a maxi dress on you never want to wear a short dress again. Hello comfortable!
They can be dressed up with some Espadrilles or dressed down with some gladiator sandals. I just picked up this striped maxi and seriously want to order it in every color pattern they make. The material is nice and has a great drape. Does not wrinkle and hangs really well. I was super impressed especially since it was like ten bucks! Also notice the stripes match up perfectly.

Florals and Prints
I am seriously obsessed with this dress I wore over Easter and wouldn’t you know it’s a maxi. I found it randomly on a clearance rack at Target. It was $11. When I tried it on and fell in love I scoured the store trying to find more but it must have been a return or something. Keep your eye out I’m sure they will be bringing them back.
I absolutely love the skirt on it.
This season is all about florals and big bold prints.
Slip Dresses
This last one I don’t know if I’m 100% on board with this trend yet but I am seeing them pop up on all the major sites. I think it is a fine line between a slip dress and looking like you wore your nightie out. I think it can look more appropriate by maybe laying top top….think blazer or longer cardigan.
Or my other new love right now….don’t boo and hiss but I’m loving the Kimono look. Slip dress, kimono and funky headband….definitely channeling my boho hippie side with that one!
Last thing let me tell you the trend I NEVER want to see come back! One word. Sunflowers
Let’s leave Sunflowers where they belong in the 90’s please let’s keep it that way!

I’ve been obsessed with Maxi’s lately! I just posted two of my faves on the blog.(A dress and a skirt) I love slip dresses too! I had this really cute black cynthia vincent one and I spilled olive oil(like a lot) on it and was never able to get it out! So disappointing! XO
I love the striped maxi you’re wearing! I’m obsessed with maxi for the exact reason you said – they are just so comfy!! I’m all about the floral print – but totally agree lets keep the sunflowers at bay!!
Maxi dresses are seriously the best thing that has happened to women’s wear in years. They are so easy and comfortable. I’m actually wearing the stripe cutout dress that I featured on my crave and save post as we speak! Perfect for traveling :)

I JUSt started wearing maxi dresses last year and I love them. I shied away because I’m so short and many were too engulfing but I finally found a few that were perfect. I’m definlty in the market for more because they are so easily made chic and are so comfortable.
I’m trying to get on board with slip dresses, but again my body frame doesn’t seem to be my friend. I have um…very small assets up top ;) so sometimes the dress looks like an actual slip haha.
The florals are lovely and i agree NO SUNFLOWERS!
OMG I completely agree, I cannot get on board with the sunflower or daisy print dresses. Sorry but if I wore it when I was in like 3rd grade and I wasn’t cool then, it’s not cool now!!! I’m totally loving that striped maxi you’re wearing! Looks AMAZING on you! There are like 10 dresses (at least) that you have on this post that I’m dying to get!

Would you believe I don’t have a maxi dress? I am always afraid it will look like a tent on me! I am going to have to try one this season for sure. My office is casual so I am thinking maxi skirts and cute T’s are going to be my staple this summer!
Love the slip dresses! Because of my height I cant do maxi dresses because I look ridiculous! But i love two of them, the top right grey one and the bottom middle one. Love them. Also you look great in the stripped one!
Oh gosh the sunflower trend! How did that even happen in the first place? haha! I love maxi dresses–but I’m such a shrimp that they’re all so crazy long on me. Slip dresses have to be the most comfortable and yet sexiest things ever. I am a FAN!

I always thought I’d look awful in maxis but once I put my first one on… it was LOVE. Seriously… most comfortable thing EVER. And like you said… you can wear them so many different ways. I’ve worn them for lounging around and I’ve worn them to weddings!

I have been trying to find a maxi that I love since last summer!! I’m hoping this will be my year.. haha I’m so picky! Love all of your options though, Asos has some really cute ones!

I love a good floral dress! I have always loved slip dresses though – so i think those are just my all time favorite dress style in general!

I live in maxi dresses & skirts! I’m so thankful that my job allows them as “business casual” because it definitely feels like I’m coming to work in pjs (like today for instance) Lol!

I love myself a good maxi dress! I actually just picked up a fabulous one from TJ Maxx for $20 – it’s black with a grey chevron toward the bottom, and the straps criss-cross in the back. I am so excited to rock it this summer!

I love maxi dresses, so comfortable! My only problem is finding them short enough for me. I always end up stepping on them or I have to hold them in one hand when I walk so I don’t trip. Sexy!

Maxi’s are so comfortable and that ecard may have legit crossed my mind a time or two when putting one on. Haha! I am not a huge floral person but some larger print florals can be really pretty.

I loveee kimonos and maxi dresses! Especially in this heat, they are lifesavers. But the slip dresses? I just can’t get on that train. A few times I’ve seen it here & have done a double-take to make sure the gal wasn’t walking around in lingerie or a nightie! Haha!
