Alright I am pretty excited about this review because I have been eyeing this Sephora Summer Stash
for quite some time and finally took the plunge and added it to my cart. I do have to say I enjoy ordering from Sephora
online because they have such better point value beauty buys than in the store and you know I like finding coupon codes. Seriously they don’t even make you google search for their codes, they just put it all on their site for you. Sephora Coupon Codes
, I used the code BLACKOIL and got the Josie Maran Argan Black Oil Mascara
mini. I am still on the fence about it, I’ll let you know after I’ve had some time to make a real opinion.
Okay to back to the point. I scoured my Sephora and the ones
crammed inside of the JCPenny’s around me and nobody had the stash in stores. I really hem hawed about this purchase because the gift cards I have only work for in store, which meant my hard earned money needed to go towards this purchase. What finally put me over the edge was being able to try the Marc Jacbobs gel mascara. I added it to the cart, then cursed because I needed $5 more dollars for free shipping. Fine you sneaky little things, I know that pricing was strategic. So I ordered this most amazing Invisible Oil which is still hands down my absolute fav from this post. I got it in the mini version to keep at Mark’s house. Let’s get into this full review.
So first impressions. The carrying case is adorable and scrunches up so it can easily be crammed into your purse.
Second impression. The products are not generously sized but for $45 when the cost of each is $25-$30 full sized…..I got over the initial let down and dived into the products.
Here is a reference of the size with a pen and a quarter.
What I was most excited about.
Really great bronzer for contouring. Looks very natural golden tan without too much glitter/shimmer. The sample size just barely allowed my brush to fit in but I threw this in my travel makeup case for quick touchups.
Next on the list.
I was so excited to try this since I have heard such great reviews. Honestly I like what I can get onto my one finger….the sample looks like this
It was kind of hard to smear the blush with one finger, but then I dipped the other one in and it helped….. I was a little disappointed. I may need to scoop it out and put it into something more easily accessible. The jury is still out.
I don’t wear eyeshadow but I like to rim my inner eyes with gold shadow (Blake Lively style). This foil has the most perfect amount of pigment and sparkle. This was a total winner.
Well known to us
If you remember from this post
, this stuff is a total life saver. Your makeup will not budge, even in 90+ heat taking engagement pictures
. Get it, you won’t regret it.
Most intrigued by…
I wanted to know if it would measure up to my tried and true Perfekt gel mascara
. The Marc Jacobs makes them look more long and spidery but the Perfekt builds easier and comes off with simple face washing. The Marc Jacobs took a little more effort (like had to get it off with coconut oil and eye makeup remover
). Verdict, I love using it as a sample but probably wouldn’t buy the full size. Please ignore my bloodshot/allergy eye.
Still not sold on
It comes with a nice lip brush and has a peppermint taste going on. It is a pretty barbie pink color but doesn’t hold a flame to my YSL lip stain
My final verdict. Would I buy this again, absolutely. Was I initially let down by the size, yes but for the price of the high end products it was worth it. My personal opinion about sample packs like this is to be able to try these cult classics that usually carry a hefty price tag but for a fraction of the price. What would I buy in the full size? The NARS Bronzing Powder
, Urban Decay Setting Spray
, Josie Maran Blush
(on the fence still
) and if I didn’t already love my Perkfekt Gel Mascara
I would have purchased the Marc Jacobs Mascara
. I am in love with the Stila shadow
but the size is actually perfect that I probably won’t have to buy the full size.
So what do you think? Has this been on your radar? Will you take the plunge? I will tell you I pretty much use all the products on a daily basis and the small sizes are great for travel. Let me know your thoughts and if you use these products on a daily basis! xoxoxo
