I’ve Been Unsupervised Lately

This post may contain affiliate links. Purchasing through them help support this website.
One of my favorite posts to date was one of my “early” ones if you will when I guest posted over at Helene’s home.  No lie if you are looking for someone to sponsor it is her.  I don’t really check google analytics anymore but when I posted on her site I had a minimum of 15 people at every given moment linking to my page.  My post was on secret girl behaviors and then when Kenzie wrote one the other day that involved covering her pretty boots in walmart plastic bags so they wouldn’t get ruined I smiled knowing that us blogging girls are crazy.  We get each other.  I feel like I can let all my inner monologue out to which y’all will reply “totally did that yesterday“……it makes me feel sane again.

So I know it is like very old fashioned that Mark and I aren’t living together yet (I have my opinions about living together while dating but we won’t go there today).  The truth is we are both professionals that had our own lives before we met and it just hasn’t happened yet.  Until now.  Jan 1st to be exact.  My “assignment” now every night when I come home from work has been to pack so I will be ready when that moving truck comes at the end of the month.  Mark has been at home getting all his after work stuff done so he’s not here to distract me.  My parents graciously dropped off boxes and bubble wrap (popping it never gets old).

Sooooooo what have I done every single night instead of packed you may ask?  Well let me tell you.

Binge Watched Gilmore Girls.  I’m almost done with Season 2.

Eat things out of my freezer that are still half frozen because I don’t have the time or patience to wait for them to thaw.  Hence the Costco Carrot Cake Cupcakes reference from the other day.  I mean I stuck it in the microwave and half the frosting melted off.  It tasted like heaven.

Meticulously tabbed my Nordstrom Holiday Guide

Watched Barefoot Blonde Hair tutorials.  Tried my hand at this one.  Think I nailed it.  Ponder about adding it to my possible Wedding hairstyles. (Please try to ignore my very dirty hair).

Blogged…..naturally

Answered emails

Did 10 minute workouts

Followed by eating these.  Yeah buddy.  They were amazing.

Realized in horror there were 6 servings in that bag…..

Did some Facebook stalking.  Oh I didn’t know he had two kids with two different girls…..interesting….

Stalked y’alls blogs.

Made a holiday wish list.  Then laughed about how it wasn’t going to happen.  Mixers and silverware are in your future my dear not this fabulous rose gold cuff.  I want full details Lindsay!

Tried to take a gel manicure off by myself.  That was a bad idea.  Realized that not having two hands for 10 minutes was torture. Realized I was addicted to social media.  Tried to palliate myself with gilmore girls.  The grandmother is the best part in my opinion.

Finished grading papers and answering angry student emails who like to use ALL CAPS when talking to their professor apparently.

Ponder what is wrong with the youths of today.

Open my fridge and realize all I have is wine and hearts of palm (the two pack from Costco).

Use these Un-Wrinkle Peel pads.  Amazing.

Take pictures and post to instagram.  Loved getting my holiday cards from B and Mree!

FaceTime my sister and her kids.

Drank wine and pin.

Then pin some more.

Spend hours finding gifs for my Friday Favorites post.  Like this little gem.  Honestly what the…..is going on here.

Start watching bpm videos on youtube and design an entire spin class….even though I don’t teach spin anymore. Well while I’m at  it might as well write down my barre class for tomorrow.

You want to know what I didn’t do.

You guessed it.

Pack.

Well I did pack up my wine glasses and moved my little over the toilet standing drawer set that houses 1/3 of my products.  So I will call that a success.

Sorry mom I love you and thank you for helping me this upcoming weekend after I totally swindled asked you to come to my dress fitting/alterations and then to help me pack afterwards.  I promise I’ll buy some food so I don’t feed you salad with croutons on it again and call it dinner!

So there you have it all the ways I stay “busy” when I am supposed to be doing something else.  It is times like this I am so glad Mark doesn’t read my blog ;-)  What do you do when you are supposed to be doing something else?  Tell me tell me!  Isn’t packing the worst???!?!  Make sure you link up tomorrow and tell me all your favorites from the week!!! xoxoxo

Follow me on!

Gilmore Girls is just the best! If I had the time, I would be rewatching the entire series! And I love that you tagged the whole Nordies Holiday Guide, just love!

  2. December 11, 2014 / 7:44 AM

Whenever packing is involved I become a pro procrastinator!

  3. December 11, 2014 / 11:43 AM

Hahaha, looks like you kept SUPER busy (isn’t it funny how we can find all kinds of things to get into when we don’t want to do something??) I can totally relate–when my husband and I moved from our condo into our house I did NOT want to pack! I can’t wait to see what all of that time got you to come up with for your Friday post! haha
Yay for moms coming into town and being swindled into helping–they are the best!!

  4. December 11, 2014 / 11:50 AM

You actually get a lot done haha! I am seriously impressed with the braid! I could never do that! Love your tabs too haha. Biana’s Christmas card is the cutest thing ever. Moving is soo much work! xo

  5. December 11, 2014 / 11:52 AM

You are too funny!! You actually did a lot, just not all of it had to be done LOL!! Such a great job with the braid – I need to try them, but her tutorials seem so hard!!! You’ll get it all done girl…your mom is there to help! :)

  6. December 11, 2014 / 12:02 PM

Oooh, I wanna hear your living together thoughts….I bet we have similar ideas!!!

I love B’s card…..I have it hanging up in my kitchen :)!

    Moms so totally rock!

  7. December 11, 2014 / 12:02 PM

Lol!!! Man were you productive!! And I’m totay addicted to Gilmore Girls so, good choice!! I have no doubt you’ll get your packing done, plus no one wants to pack after they’ve worked all day, so you get a free pass from me ;)

  8. December 11, 2014 / 12:25 PM

Hahaha love this girl! Sounds like you had quite the productive evening! I often have things I need to do but get distracted by other things so trust me, you aren’t alone there! By the way, you nailed Amber’s braid! I’ve tried doing some of her hair tutorials before but I suck at them!

Girl, I hear you! I am a notoriously horrible packer- and moving is SUCH A PAIN. The next time we move, I’m hiring it out, I swear. So much work!

Popping bubble wrap for the win! Oh and of course laughing at the HP gif… hilarious! Ron always looks so awkward!

  11. December 11, 2014 / 1:58 PM

Amber’s hairstyles always look amazing. I want to set aside some time and practice some of them too. Yours looks great! I hate packing with a passion. You never feel like you more crap than when you move!

  12. December 11, 2014 / 2:13 PM

I am sitting here cracking up considering I basically just went through the same thing before we moved into our house. It was right around that time that I decided I wanted to start watching Once Upon a Time on Netflix, so there went any hopes of productivity out the window for a week or two. I’m so jealous that you are almost through season 2 of Gilmore Girls – that’s next on my list!

  13. December 11, 2014 / 2:19 PM

I hate packing. I will do anything else, but pack! Hah. Love your tabs in the Nordstrom Holdiay guide! Why does that woman look so mad?

  14. December 11, 2014 / 2:21 PM

Packing is the WORST! I totally feel you, I waited til the last minute too this fall. Thank goodness I didn’t have Gilmore Girls to distract me yet! And you nailed it on the Barefoot Blonde hair!

  15. December 11, 2014 / 2:25 PM

I seriously laughed out loud at your post title. There have been times when J comes home from month long recruiting trips and walked in and been like “yup. You’ve clearly been unsupervised.” I die!

  16. December 11, 2014 / 2:38 PM

Unless I’m packing to go on vacation packing sucks. I saw dark chocolate slim pretzels at Trader Joe’s yesterday but not the peppermint ones. I may have to try those. I love Biana’s holiday card, and your tabs in your Nordstrom catalog are so cute!! Looking forward to seeing your complete gif collection tomorrow too. :-) I hope that you are having a good day so far too!

  17. December 11, 2014 / 2:40 PM

ok true story…i’ve never seen gilmore girls! crazy right. annnnd now i really really want peppermint pretzels! xo jillian – cornflake dreams

  18. December 11, 2014 / 2:41 PM

I have never seen an episode of Gilmore Girls. *Gasp* I know. ;)

I despise packing. Seriously. I think it’s the worst torture.

I don’t blame you for putting it off. Plus, we all know the wine glasses are always the last things to be packed…. because, duh. ;)

  19. December 11, 2014 / 2:58 PM

I’ve been binge watching GG too and let me just tell you, after Rory graduates, shit gets real! Don’t worry about packing. I sat aside 2 days to pack before my move back to Texas and it was honestly all I needed.

packing is the worssssssst i hear you sister. this post makes me laugh though because that is all real life. i’m so tired of moving i don’t know why i keep doing it all the time! so many better things to do with ones time :)

  21. December 11, 2014 / 3:06 PM

Hahaha you are SO right about that Nordstrom model. She looks so unhappy, I will definitely not be buying that. Good luck with all of the packing!

  22. December 11, 2014 / 3:06 PM

Whyyy does moving have to suck so bad!? Almost there girl ;) LOVE your hair braid and love that you tabbed the Nordstrom guide!

  23. December 11, 2014 / 3:14 PM

That is so funny. When I moved I said I was going to slowly pack and then literally the night before I was having to pack everything.

  24. December 11, 2014 / 3:15 PM

I hate packing and do whatever I can to avoid it, too! The tabs in your Nordstrom guide are so funny-I loved the “why does she look so angry?” Haha! Also, I really need to make it over to Trader Joe’s during the holiday season because those peppermint slims look amazing!

  25. December 11, 2014 / 3:15 PM

LOVE this! Packing is just terrible, there are no ways around it! Shopping is my guilty pleasure. I should be cleaning my house right now. . . but if I go shopping I won’t have to look at it!

  26. December 11, 2014 / 3:34 PM

Lmao I have something I need to do, too, and suddenly I can find a million other things that I want to do first. Watching Gilmore Girls being one of them – I’m on season 3!

  27. December 11, 2014 / 3:39 PM

Omg that Harry Potter bit. bahahahahaha

  28. December 11, 2014 / 3:43 PM

Packing is the WORST. And I am great at procrastinating things that are the worst, so I totally get it!

Oohhh those pretzels! I got some from Publix similar to that but they are dark chocolate and peppermint, SO ADDICTED.

LOL at your “Why does she look so angry?” note in the Nordstrom book! It’s a great question, if I looked as good as she does and had that dress on I would be smiling from ear to ear! :)

    That GIF! LOL!

  29. December 11, 2014 / 3:58 PM

It rings —— Oh how I love Michel. I am truly hoping that the very blatent hints of “I want Gilmore Girls Series on DVD” was received by SOMEONE in my family. I can just watch and watch and watch… “What’s the use if I am pretty if I fail my finals?”

    Oh – packing, do that later ;) ;) ;)

I love your hair like that. SUPER COOL that you can do that yourself, even with a tutorial, I’m a moron. hehehehe

  30. December 11, 2014 / 4:00 PM

Bahaha!!! I hate packing! Your list sounds much like mine. Pinterest, Netflix and food are usually the culprits. I may have laughed out loud at the “Why does she look so angry?” and now I want to watch Gilmore Girls!

  31. December 11, 2014 / 4:12 PM

I would love to know what your thoughts are on not living together. The hubby and I didn’t live together before we were married and we were both totally ok with it. That’s how we both wanted it.

  32. December 11, 2014 / 4:42 PM

That braid though. Perfection, definitely wedding day worthy! Also, binge watching Gilmore Girls sounds like a perfect way to pass time when you should be doing something else (totally agree on the Grandma). Packing is seriously the worst and I don’t blame you one bit for avoiding. I’d wait until the morning of, it’ll get done quicker…probably. :)

hahaha love this! Thanks so so much for the shoutout- you are just too kind! thanks. and i LOVe watching some good old gilmore girls!

  34. December 11, 2014 / 4:49 PM

I needed my mom to come help me/motivate me with packing too. It’s so hard!! And Gilmore Girls definitely was one of my procrastinating events also.

  35. December 11, 2014 / 5:16 PM

That HP gif is disturbing, hahaha. I like to binge watch TV or read and eat yummy food when I’m supposed to be doing something more productive too. And those peppermint pretzel things look delish!

  36. December 11, 2014 / 5:20 PM

Umm, love this. Gilmore Girls is one of my favorites…I may have had an obsession with Yale for a while after watching. Such a good show!!

  37. December 11, 2014 / 5:23 PM

Well I don’t blame ya cause packing is never fun! Ok you just sold me on taking a trip to Trader Joe’s for some peppermint goodness!

  38. December 11, 2014 / 5:51 PM

so many good things in this post.
i love packing, it’s so much fun haha. but i get distracted easily as well.
why does she look so angry haha i laughed so hard! seriously though why.
that harry potter beyonce gif is the best thing i’ve ever seen.
i want to know your thoughts on living together whilst dating! can’t leave us hanging like that.
so you’re moving jan 1st? what a busy time of year to move you crazy thing.

  39. December 11, 2014 / 5:57 PM

Hahaha that gif made me smile. It’s so perfect!! We just finished watching Season 2 of Gilmore Girls last night. Love that show! I procrastinate by watching too much reality tv and playing music and singing/dancing along like I’m a pop star. I wait until my boyfriend’s out of the house until I do the last one! It’s my little secret ;)

  40. December 11, 2014 / 6:07 PM

Packing is the worst! I will always find a bajillion other things to do then pack. Stacking pinterest and social media will inevitably happen!

  41. December 11, 2014 / 6:24 PM

I hate to pack too and will find any reason under the sun to not do it. Including, but not limited to, all the reasons listed above. Minus finding that awesomely disturbing gif. It made me wince, go back and look again. I just couldn’t stop myself.

  42. December 11, 2014 / 7:37 PM

Ahhh you make me so happy! Packing is overrated, doing everything is underrated. GG on Netflix is basically life changing. I said it. I am going to try that hair tutorial today because I have work to do and I just don’t want to :)

  43. December 11, 2014 / 8:38 PM

You just need to hire movers at this point hah. Keeps you happy, keeps Mark happy; perfect start to a life of bliss ;)

  44. December 11, 2014 / 9:28 PM

OMG seriously hahhaa that Beyoncé turned Harry potter gif has me dying! LOVE! And you’re so right, popping bubble wrap will never get old…ever!!

stopping by from cheshire kat and hey. priorities. first thing to open when you get to new place? wine glasses. i like where your head’s at. also packing is sort of the worst so i blame you not one bit. at least there is wine.

  47. December 11, 2014 / 10:02 PM

hahah love all this random-ness and packing is THE WORST!! And your Nordstrom tags crack me up. I have a pretty long to-do list for my month off, but doing absolutely nothing the past few days has been so nice!

  48. December 11, 2014 / 11:30 PM

PACKING IS THE WORST! I really hate moving. I may need to get netflix now just so I can binge watch Gilmore Girls!!! I love the early seasons, they were simply the best. Sigh, I was into that show bunheads for a minute since it had the Grandma from Gilmore Girls but sadly it was cancelled. I hope you didn’t stalk my facebook, I’m so boring!!!! I want to know your thoughts on living together and dating, is that a post??!!!! It sounds so interesting, what can I say, I’m curious ;)

  49. December 12, 2014 / 12:49 AM

Um, can I just say this is probably my favorite post of all time? Like I felt like you were inside my head. Except this is me at work. I will do whatever I can to avoid working sometimes. #bademployee

  50. December 12, 2014 / 1:29 AM

Sounds busy to me! Pinterest AND cupcakes – is there a better way to procrastinate? I think not!

  51. December 12, 2014 / 1:46 AM

This is so me!!! I love this.
And I just peeled away my gel polish and want to smack myself for doing it.
But I’ll never learn. You should really get back to packing. Lol

  52. December 12, 2014 / 2:13 AM

We are supposed to be moving next weekend and I haven’t packed a single thing. I mean we don’t have to be out of here until the 30th but we are moving the big stuff on the 20th so I think I need to get packing…. I HATE packing!

  53. December 12, 2014 / 2:59 AM

I think packing is my least favourite activity. I literally loathe every week when I have to pack up my stuff to go to Tyler’s, and that’s usually for a max of two nights hahah. I’ve learned that I simply cannot let myself put the tv on “in the background” because I’m 2 and can’t handle the visual distraction. Now I listen to audiobooks or podcasts so I have no excuses for just sitting on my bed staring at the tv for “just a minute”. Also side note, your stickies are so cute!! And YES to that hairstyle.

  54. December 12, 2014 / 3:38 AM

Haha oh the things we find to do when there’s something that needs to be done for real.

  55. December 12, 2014 / 4:20 AM

Those pretzels are just ridiculous. I can crush a whole bag in about 2.5 seconds.

  56. December 12, 2014 / 5:05 AM

I just laughed so hard because this is my life!
I basically do everything imaginable to not pack and then a day before the moving truck comes I call all my friends and my mom and they whip my butt into gear (or join me on the couch watching movies while boxes pile up around us).

Props to the two of you for holding off on living together, if I had been fortunate enough to live in the same country as Ben I am sure we wouldn’t have rushed moving in together.

  57. December 12, 2014 / 7:16 AM

Thanks so much for the shout out, you are seriously too sweet ♥ Your tabs in the Nordstrom holiday guide are great! Why does she look so angry? Ha ha! I almost hate making my holiday wish lists because some of the things on there (I’m looking at you Christian Louboutin heels) that are never going to get gifted to me ha ha.

  58. December 13, 2014 / 3:03 PM

Packing is the absolute WORST. Pete and I will die in this one bedroom apartment because I never want to go through that shit EVER AGAIN! lol

  59. December 14, 2014 / 5:00 AM

I hate to pack so I dont blame you! haha also that gif is perfect!

  60. December 14, 2014 / 5:01 PM

Hahahaha! Oh girl… I feel the same way. Except when I’m unsupervised, it’s me online shopping. xo

  61. December 16, 2014 / 12:45 AM

Bahahahahaha! Packing is definitely one of the worst things ever. Sometimes I think about how I don’t want to move because a.) I don’t want to pack all the shit we have some how accumulated and b.) because I know my lovely husband won’t be of any assistance in that area – along with every other “area”. Lol. I will say though, it sounds like you’ve been having some good eats! :)

  62. December 23, 2014 / 7:43 PM

It’s like me when I needed to pack in July. I had so many better things to do.
