Products That Are Totally BFF’s

You know when you buy a product and you’re like sweet this works great, love it but then when you use it with either the tool it is supposed to be applied with or another holy grail type of applicator and now you’re like……mind blown.  That is how I feel about these products that are totally great by themselves but added with their BFF and now they are a serious doubt threat.

I totally was a NYX concealer (medium) kind of gal and don’t get me wrong it does the job beautifully and for under $5.  Then I used my Sephora coupon and went for the NARS concealer that B raved about and I do love it.  I am the Custard color.  Universal color for most.  My next project is to do a side by side and length of wear comparison because concealer is one thing that I do have to buy a few times a year.  Once you add the airbrush concealer brush you will feel like how did you ever apply concealer with your fingers before? Oh and it has the most perfect cap to keep the brush clean.

Nars concealer |  Sephora Airbrush Concealer #57

I have been using this little trifecta of fun for the past month and it honestly gives my latest airbrush makeup trial a run for its money.  The MUFE in the green primer does an amazing job taking all the redness out of your face.  Make sure you let it dry for a few minutes.  Then you just need a tiny amount of the YSL foundation applied with the brush and hello flawless skin.  I use B30 (reference point).  Now if I can just find my receipt for the individual brushes that I bought I am totally getting the entire set. Seriously such a steal!

I’m no pro at contouring but with these tools it does make it a little easier.  Cara’s post is my holy grail for instructions.  Use the Elf brush (it’s 3 bucks I seriously have like 4 of them) right under your cheek line straight to your ear.  Then use the fluffy brush to frame the outside of your face and blend. I used to be a BareMinerals bronzer fanatic but after I got my mini sample of laguna I now see what the cult favorite is all about.

I know I sound like a broken record but the YSL glossy stains are the best lipgloss stains that exist.  I mean what red do you know stays shiny, isn’t drying and won’t transfer onto your wineglass?  Then when it fades it does so naturally and does’t leave that weird outer red lip liner thing.  I know they are pricey but I have had my holy grail red (#9 rouge laque) for like a year now and besides losing it in a clutch here and there it is still kicking.  My two new favorite neutral colors are N 107 Naughty Mauve and N 106 Beige Anarchist.  Great investment!  Added with the Peter Thomas Roth lip cream absolute perfection!  It helps with those dry winter lips and gives a really nice fullness.  I have been putting it on every night and morning and I really notice the difference!

Holy grail eyelash curler (even though they can be scary) with my new favorite mascara equals lash perfection.

If you want eyeliner that would stay on if you went swimming in a pool and then got out and rubbed your eyes but then still will wash off with face wash then here you go.  My ultimate black eyeliner pencil.

Urban Decay Lid Primer | Urban Decay 24/7 Liner in Perversion

To finish off that airbrushed look and then set it.  The Urban Decay setting spray is for real.  I mean it held up my makeup during our engagement pictures in the FL heat and was literally budge proof.  I am a believer.

  9. brushes are SO important to great makeup application. i found out a while back that my sister uses ONE brush for everything…and she wondered why her makeup never looked good *smh*

  10. YES to the NARS creamy concealer (also thanking B for that rec!) and to UD’s primer potion. I can’t imagine ever putting on eye makeup without it now :)

  11. I need to learn how to contour! It always looks amazing but I can’t do it at all LOL! And I still need to try your YSL lip stains. I can’t believe I haven’t tried them yet!!

Great post. I love that YSL Foundation. It’s fantastic. I so need to try that lip stuff from Peter Thomas Roth.

  15. I have to admit, I hardly ever step foot in Sephora. I have a pretty good love affair with Clinique and can buy it other places than the mall.

  16. I want to try so many new products now! But especially the YSL Lipstain!

  17. Love this post! So many great products. Love you tips on how to use them!

  19. Christina says:

love this post idea. i feel the same way about foundation + the bare minerals brush. that thing is so soft. some of my bristles started falling out so i zoomed to sephora and was like THIS IS NOT OKAY. they gave me a new one in 2 seconds. no questions. god i love it. and thank you for reminding me to take my prenatals!

  20. This post is pure genius. I’m always looking for people’s makeup tips of how to make things last longer, etc. Thanks for the round up, girl – I clearly need to check out those Sephora brushes!

  21. That UD spray is the BEST. I also use that NARS setting powder and I love it. Thanks for sharing some reviews about the other products too, I’ll have to add those to my list. :-) I hope that you are having a great day so far too!!

  22. Love this! Those brushes sound amazing, I’m going to have to check them out! I’m starting to run out of my bare minerals bronzer, and I already love NARS so I’m thinking I should just try laguna next!

  23. Joey says:

I don’t know how I EVER wore eyeshadow before eyeshadow primer! I use the UD Primer Potion now (and have for years) but I originally used the Bare Minerals one. Couldn’t imagine now using it now!

  24. I swear by the Urban Decay Setting spray. I use it every single day. My skin is super oily and it helps keep the oiliness away for longer. It’s just amazing lol

  25. I’m adding that concealer to my shopping basket right now. Struggle city with the skin lately!

  26. Love these posts because I always learn about the best stuff. I love UD primer and eyeliner too – they are my faves. I also like MAC eyeliner too, it goes on just as smooth as the UD in my opinion.

  27. Oh man, I am pinning this post! So much good info! I need make up help so badly!

  28. Ashley says:

Want to try that MUFE primer!

  29. Oooh – I am def going to try some of these products.

  30. Julia says:

You always have the best product suggestions! Looking forward to trying some of these!

  31. Well isn’t this just the most brilliant beauty post ever! I’m not a big beauty girl, but I did learn to contour a few months ago and it was a total game changer. I love a good primer and really need to get another shadow primer. I have like no eye lids when I close my eyes so it always gets in my crease and clumps. Love this girl!

  32. Ahh love this, I have a few “dream team combos” as I call them, myself! I can’t live without that setting spray!!

  33. Now I just want to spend allll my money on makeup to try these pairs out!

  34. love this! i am so bad about choosing products and brushes so this is really helpful :)

  35. I need that nail polish strengthener, my nails are so brittle. The Elf angled brush is perfect for contouring.

  36. Rebecca Jo says:

I wish I could take prenatal vitamins. The iron in it KILLS my stomach.

  37. girl, I wish you could see how many notes and open new tabs I was doing before I just saved this entire post! Thanks for the reviews! These are most DEF my favorite posts! xo Happy hump day!

  38. Such a great list! I am a huge fan of that Urban Decay eyeliner, too! :)

  39. Meagan says:

I want to try that NARS concealer with the airbrush! Where did you get that Elf angled brush? The link isn’t working for me. :) thanks!

  40. Brooke says:

This is such a great post!! One of my goals for the new year is to invest in some great beauty products and revamp my routine. I’ve been a bit lazy and haven’t updated any of my products or tried anything new in a long time. Thanks for the tips!!

  41. This was so great! I have the NARS concealer on my Christmas list – fingers crossed. I was actually at Costco yesterday and they have YSL lip stains there for only $28! I’m kicking myself for not picking one up… I may go back later, ha!

  42. I’ve heard people rave about concealer brushes before, but I haven’t taken the plunge to get one… Thinking that may go on my Christmas list now though because concealer is the only thing I wear every single day. Gotta cover up those under eye circles, stat! That lip stain looks gorg too…

  43. I totally want to try a new foundation but with the bareMinerals brush (too pricey to ditch ha). Great combos, lady!

  44. Ok, next time you are up here we are meeting at Sephora in SHills mall and you taking me shopping!

  45. Emily says:

This reminds me, I should really start back taking prenatal vitamins. Love all of the UD products!!

  46. Kristen says:

i’m totally gonna get that $3 elf brush next time i go to target. i just got a new elf product (lip lock i think) and it’s freaking AMAZING and was $3 i mean isn’t that the best?

  47. I’m loving this post!! It’s so true that certain products work so much better when applied with the right tool or paired with another. I’m going to have to pick up a few of these to go with some of my current product loves. Thanks girl!

  48. Can I have your makeup collection, please?!? I really need to up my game! This is a great post and now I am dying to try the contouring BFF’s!

  50. I love the pairing between Nars and the Sephora brush. Very nice. I wish I had that in my makeup bag

  51. I love all the combos!!! I haven’t tried the YSL yet. I am really loving the Naked foundation by UD.

I keep buying more and more of the $3 ELF brushes…good stuff!

  52. Love this!! My sephora airbrush brush is MY BFF!! Best brush ever! And I still need to get that lipstain!!!

  53. This is such a great post idea, I love it! Once I started using a fluffy brush for concealer it literally changed everything – they blend like a dream, and in no time. Sometimes in the winter I’ll apply the product first with my fingers to warm it up to skin temperature, but I’m guessing that since you’re in Florida you never have the problem haha.

  54. I may have to try just that lip treatment… mine are terrible this time of year, no matter how much balm I drown them in!

  55. Abigail says:

Love this! It’s just in time to prepare for the holidays… a great makeup look is a must!
