Happy Monday. I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Things are finally settling down after the wedding, moving in and the honeymoon. This weekend, Mark and I were able to hang out and really enjoy each other’s company without having to be attached to our computers getting various work done. We went to Roux Tampa for brunch, one of our favorite NOLA restaurants. It was so enjoyable and since I had some extra time you know I found some unbelievable deals for you this weekend. I have been a little quicker to buy lately, how about you? Summer clothes are just so hard to say no to right? All the fun prints, colors and styles……and they take up less room in the closet. Linking up with the beautiful Biana for her Weekending link up.
Since I got my new lens for my camera I am trying to be more diligent and take it with me instead of snapping iPhone pics. Plus, I am really getting the hang of which settings in manual to use, which is fun to experiment with. The Lightning came back in town (I hope they win tonight!!) side bar, I adore hockey. All those years in a skating rink and my brothers all played, makes me enthusiastic about the game. Also, I love when Tampa gets behind a local team, instead of the transplants all cheering for their home teams. It wasn’t that long ago when the Trop had more Yankees and Red Sox fans instead of Rays. That culture is slowly changing down here.
I snapped some outfit pics down by the water. I am so in love with this skirt. The material doesn’t wrinkle, it has pockets and it’s under $20. Yes please. I always stock up on royal blue pieces so I’m ready when Gator season rolls around. These shoes have been on major repeat. Sold out but I found some similar looks here and here. I am pretty much addicted to mirrored aviators but these pink/red ones seem to be the ones I have been reaching for the most lately.
We headed over to Roux Tampa for brunch. I love New Orleans. We end up going almost once a year, tickets are already booked for October.
Let’s talk about this crab eggs benedict and Marks Shrimp Po Boy (which I eat the other half of, shhhhhh).
How much do you want to cozy up to this bar for a drink? I just want to take pictures of the ceiling inside of Roux Tampa all the time. Isn’t it beautiful??
The rest of the weekend was spent catching up around the house, DIY projects for the blog and grading massive amounts of papers. I agreed to teach two classes this Summer…..why????
Last thing, check out these Rag & Bone perfect dupes! They made me do a complete double take.
Shop this post!
I hope you had a wonderful weekend! Local peeps, have you tried Roux Tampa yet? If so, what are your favorite dishes? Make sure you check back tomorrow for the 5 things I am digging lately. I promise you will want all of them after I’m done doting all over them. Check back then! xoxo

I love Roux! I haven’t been since a food blogger event (totally forgot until just now that I have gift cards to use!), and need to get back, stat. Tell me about the 35mm lens?! I have a 50 I use for food but wouldn’t mind a better lens for everyday shots…

Gah you always find the best Forever 21 stuff! My wallet has definitely felt the force of reading your blog more regularly ;) That skirt is sooo cute and I’m already DYING to know what you are sharing tomorrow!! Those eggs Benedict look delicious. That meal is one of my (many) weaknesses – I can’t pass it up!!

You always find the best stuff at F21, I think I need to take a trip over there for some fun digging and fabulous finds! And totally jealous of your October NOLA trip, I haven’t been there in several years and that definitely needs to change :)

Gorgeous pictures! Isn’t it so fun to have a fancy camera? I didn’t think I would use mine as much as I do, but it just makes taking pictures all the more fun!

Love your outfit, that skirt is so great. I haven’t had any luck with finding cute summer clothes, I have to follow a strict dress code which is the main problem. Love those Rag & Bone dupes. So great.

We went out for Cajun/Creole this weekend, too! I’m NOLA obsessed… Would move there in a heartbeat if we could ever get transferred. Also? I hate what Kirk ordered… I *thought* I knew what I wanted, but then his plate came (massive pile of jambalaya in an extra tomato-y sauce) and I couldn’t help myself. Baby wanted his food instead! He just sat back, pushed his plate over to me and got busy feeding Henry some catfish. Love that man! Married a keeper for sure :) Ahhhhh, rag & bone. Anything they do is fantastic.
Dani says
That restaurant is so cute and the food looks delicious! I’ve never been to NOLA but it’s been on my list for years and I’m hoping to go at the end of this year. And your outfit is so cute- any skirt with pockets is an automatic winner in my book :)

Roux sounds amazing! Im definitely going to keep that in mind for next time we’re in Tampa. Loving the outfit and that the skirt is under $20. Very cute and light for the summer time.
Courtney B says
Sounds like a perfect weekend with your man!! LOVE your outfit! I don’t know what happened (yes I do) but I rarely enjoy shopping for myself after having Mia. I could go out and buy Mia a whole new wardrobe without batting an eye… but spending money on myself? It’s just not fun anymore! It doesn’t help that everything, EVERYTHING is cuter when it’s mini (and covered in bows and ruffles and all things frilly that would look absolutely ridiculous on me, HA!) BUT I do have a feeling that I will be going on a shopping spree once I get back into shape after I have this babe! I do remember how nice it feels to have clothes actually look good on me again, ha!
Erin of TexErin-in-SydneyLand says
I love the look and the feeeeel of that bar. I’d be tempted to sit there a very long time :)
