Weekending – Roux Tampa & Shopping Finds

Happy Monday.  I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.  Things are finally settling down after the wedding, moving in and the honeymoon. This weekend, Mark and I were able to hang out and really enjoy each other’s company without having to be attached to our computers getting various work done. We went to Roux Tampa for brunch, one of our favorite NOLA restaurants.  It was so enjoyable and since I had some extra time you know I found some unbelievable deals for you this weekend.  I have been a little quicker to buy lately, how about you?  Summer clothes are just so hard to say no to right?  All the fun prints, colors and styles……and they take up less room in the closet.  Linking up with the beautiful Biana for her Weekending link up.

Since I got my new lens for my camera I am trying to be more diligent and take it with me instead of snapping iPhone pics.  Plus, I am really getting the hang of which settings in manual to use, which is fun to experiment with.  The Lightning came back in town (I hope they win tonight!!) side bar, I adore hockey.  All those years in a skating rink and my brothers all played, makes me enthusiastic about the game.  Also, I love when Tampa gets behind a local team, instead of the transplants all cheering for their home teams. It wasn’t that long ago when the Trop had more Yankees and Red Sox fans instead of Rays. That culture is slowly changing down here.

I snapped some outfit pics down by the water.  I am so in love with this skirt.  The material doesn’t wrinkle, it has pockets and it’s under $20.  Yes please.  I always stock up on royal blue pieces so I’m ready when Gator season rolls around.  These shoes have been on major repeat.  Sold out but I found some similar looks here and here.  I am pretty much addicted to mirrored aviators but these pink/red ones seem to be the ones I have been reaching for the most lately.

We headed over to Roux Tampa for brunch.  I love New Orleans.  We end up going almost once a year, tickets are already booked for October.  Roux Tampa Menu

Let’s talk about this crab eggs benedict and Marks Shrimp Po Boy (which I eat the other half of, shhhhhh).

How much do you want to cozy up to this bar for a drink?  I just want to take pictures of the ceiling inside of Roux Tampa all the time.  Isn’t it beautiful??

The rest of the weekend was spent catching up around the house, DIY projects for the blog and grading massive amounts of papers.  I agreed to teach two classes this Summer…..why????

Last thing, check out these Rag & Bone perfect dupes!  They made me do a complete double take.

I hope you had a wonderful weekend!  Local peeps, have you tried Roux Tampa yet?  If so, what are your favorite dishes? Make sure you check back tomorrow for the 5 things I am digging lately.  I promise you will want all of them after I’m done doting all over them.  Check back then!  xoxo

Roux Tampa sounds and looks amazing!!! Speaking of amazing, can I tell you how happy I am you are a hockey fan?!?! Too few girls genuinely cheer for hockey so I love finding more hockey friends. This series has been insane, right!?!? We are pulling for the TBL in our house, come on BOLTS!!!!!

All of that food, the atmosphere (through your photos) and the scenery outside all looks like perfection. And then you throw in a gorgeous girl in a gorgeous outfit and it just gets more perfect :)

I love Roux! I haven’t been since a food blogger event (totally forgot until just now that I have gift cards to use!), and need to get back, stat. Tell me about the 35mm lens?! I have a 50 I use for food but wouldn’t mind a better lens for everyday shots…

Gah you always find the best Forever 21 stuff! My wallet has definitely felt the force of reading your blog more regularly ;) That skirt is sooo cute and I’m already DYING to know what you are sharing tomorrow!! Those eggs Benedict look delicious. That meal is one of my (many) weaknesses – I can’t pass it up!!

  7. June 15, 2015 / 7:59 AM

You always find the best stuff at F21, I think I need to take a trip over there for some fun digging and fabulous finds! And totally jealous of your October NOLA trip, I haven’t been there in several years and that definitely needs to change :)

Have a fabulous week gurlie <3

Such a cute outfit and love the shoes! Your benedict is making me hungry and sad that I can’t eat one! Hollandaise and runny eggs = not pregnancy safe! :(

Girl, we are hockey rivals! Hoping my Blackhawks can win the cup at home tonight. :) Anyways, I’m glad you had a nice weekend with your hubby! The time after the wedding and honeymoon always is hectic, so I’m glad you’re finally getting settled and things are calming down.

Gorgeous pictures! Isn’t it so fun to have a fancy camera? I didn’t think I would use mine as much as I do, but it just makes taking pictures all the more fun!

  13. June 15, 2015 / 9:38 AM

Roux Tampa looks delicious! Isn’t manual mode the best?? Once I learned it I never went back to automatic!

  14. June 15, 2015 / 9:57 AM

Love your outfit, that skirt is so great. I haven’t had any luck with finding cute summer clothes, I have to follow a strict dress code which is the main problem. Love those Rag & Bone dupes. So great.

  15. June 15, 2015 / 9:58 AM

That food looks So good! I’m craving some good food right now, too. Thanks a lot, Amanda. ;)

That skirt looks fantastic on you! No wrinkles & has pockets… for $20?! Win.

  18. June 15, 2015 / 12:19 PM

Love your outfit, and YAY to that skirt having pockets!!! That restaurant looks fab too. I haven’t been to NOLA since 2006 but it’s a fun city. Glad that you and Mark were able to spend some time together too. :-)

  19. June 15, 2015 / 12:56 PM

This outfit is SO up my alley, you look amazing!! Now I really need to go eat some lunch because those photos are literally making my stomach growl.

  20. June 15, 2015 / 1:04 PM

Love your pictures! You make me want to invest in a nice camera like today! And fingers crossed those shoes come back in stock – I knew I would be kicking myself for not buying them when I first saw them!!

  21. June 15, 2015 / 1:35 PM

I love all of the southern food, it looks sooo delicious!

  22. June 15, 2015 / 1:57 PM

We went out for Cajun/Creole this weekend, too! I’m NOLA obsessed… Would move there in a heartbeat if we could ever get transferred. Also? I hate what Kirk ordered… I *thought* I knew what I wanted, but then his plate came (massive pile of jambalaya in an extra tomato-y sauce) and I couldn’t help myself. Baby wanted his food instead! He just sat back, pushed his plate over to me and got busy feeding Henry some catfish. Love that man! Married a keeper for sure :) Ahhhhh, rag & bone. Anything they do is fantastic.

  23. June 15, 2015 / 1:59 PM

That restaurant is so cute and the food looks delicious! I’ve never been to NOLA but it’s been on my list for years and I’m hoping to go at the end of this year. And your outfit is so cute- any skirt with pockets is an automatic winner in my book :)

  24. June 15, 2015 / 2:22 PM

Dustin would LOVE that dish, yum! Looking gorgeous, as always my friend :)

  25. June 15, 2015 / 2:24 PM

Your outfit is so fun and I love your shoes!!! That ceiling is absolutely fabulous! I would love to have that in my kitchen or something..you know? Have a great week!

  26. June 15, 2015 / 2:32 PM

Love the skirt!!! Crab eggs benedict sounds so divine! PS I think you’ve sold me on the lens. Gotta have it!

  27. June 15, 2015 / 4:13 PM

Roux sounds amazing! Im definitely going to keep that in mind for next time we’re in Tampa. Loving the outfit and that the skirt is under $20. Very cute and light for the summer time.

  28. June 15, 2015 / 5:52 PM

Sounds like a perfect weekend with your man!! LOVE your outfit! I don’t know what happened (yes I do) but I rarely enjoy shopping for myself after having Mia. I could go out and buy Mia a whole new wardrobe without batting an eye… but spending money on myself? It’s just not fun anymore! It doesn’t help that everything, EVERYTHING is cuter when it’s mini (and covered in bows and ruffles and all things frilly that would look absolutely ridiculous on me, HA!) BUT I do have a feeling that I will be going on a shopping spree once I get back into shape after I have this babe! I do remember how nice it feels to have clothes actually look good on me again, ha!

  29. June 15, 2015 / 9:43 PM

I absolutely LOVE your outfit, it is perfection. You look beautiful and your pictures are so good!

  30. June 16, 2015 / 8:39 AM

I love that this is a restaurant I could actually try, since I live close to Tampa! That doesn’t always happen when I’m reading blog posts. And I LOVE your outfit! So cute and summery.

  31. June 17, 2015 / 1:55 PM

I’m adding Roux to my list for when I visit Tampa next! Your outfit is gorgeous, too! Love the ceiling! xo
