[…] good laugh! Literally laughed out loud about your bird incident and running into […]
So this week pretty much has felt like this in blogworld…..
Down south it is back to school for all the kiddos and Summer is drawing to a close. I definitely noticed the traffic over the bridge is picking back up, that is for sure. The classes that I teach started on Monday and the emails are already rolling in “Hello Professor, where do I find the syllabus???”
Let’s try under the syllabus tab under the course. I can’t even. So I thought to lighten things up around here it’s been some time since I did a confessions post. Let’s get right into it.
I confess, I get irrationally angry when it rains in the morning. I no longer have covered parking access to my garage and it seems to always monsoon out when I need to walk to my car. Y’all know I pack for a long weekend every time I leave for work. The other day I was trying to make a run for it and dart under the garage overhead door that was opening…….well I was apparently running with 100 yard dash adrenaline speed and overestimated how slow fast it was opening. I ran straight into it and miffed my top top of the head into the door, dropping my bag and spilling coffee all over myself. It was one of those moments you wish someone had videoed. Now, at the time not funny. After the fact, hilarious.
Speaking of that garage. I confess, Mark tried to tell me there was a bird that flew out at him the last time he parked in there and I told him he was crazy. I have never seen a bird in there and how did it get in? Well, the other day with all my luggage and coffee….wouldn’t you know that damn bird flew right at me. Scared me half to death. Now, I’m debating whether I give him the satisfaction of knowing I saw this phantom bird or not.
I confess. This happens more than I would like to admit.
I confess, I had to unfollow quite a few of the “big time” fashion bloggers on snapchat because they are so insanely boring to me and there is only so many times I can watch snaps of baby talking to your dog, small child or the fact they pretty much do nothing in a day. Sorry. Can’t relate and your voice drives me nuts.
I confess, I get insanely happy when I see people loving some of my random snaps throughout the day like when Meghan grabbed the Trader Joes greek yogurt I talked about or Miranda picked up the natural hippie girl deodorant. You have one more day left to enter here!
I confess, can’t you tell I’m addicted to snapchat (@meetatthebarre). My favorite account to follow is my brothers @chuckbutta because he is the oddest individual ever and apparently has a cooking channel on there. Follow him. You may see where my crazy sense of humor comes from…..it apparently runs in the family. I also like following @camppatton and @helenesula.
I confess, I have 6 half written posts that I want to finish but then I start watching HGTV and then it all goes down hill.
I confess, I can’t wait for life to slow down a little bit. I feel like I’m always rushing to the next thing and I’ve been really debating cutting some things out of my life. It’s not like me to ever give up on anything but maybe I need to start scaling back. We will see where life takes me.
I confess that I’ve been working really hard on the graphics and overall feel of my blog and when y’all notice and give me positive feedback it makes all the hours playing in photoshop totally worth it.
Finally. I confess, I went to Trader Joe’s after barre the other day and picked out the best dinner and the prettiest flowers. Then I went to check out and realized my wallet was in my other purse. I was slightly mortified and then starving. I went home and eat cereal. It was pitiful.
Alright there are some of my confessions for the week. Tell me something you confess. Doesn’t it feel good to get it off your chest? Especially running into garage doors. That was not my crowning moment.

I am laughing at all this parking garage craziness, sorry….haha that SO sounds like me. I can’t take some of the bloggers and the same old stuff they post…I mean, I’m not that exciting but I also don’t think I’m annoying. haha….now following your brother!
Erin @ Her Heartland Soul says
This was a fun post! I LOVE your Snapchat! I’ve been bad about not snapping as much as usual lately. I need to get on that!

You get the morning rain then it moves over here and I get the early afternoon rain, making going any where during lunchtime impossible. At least it hasn’t been too rainy this week! And yes girl you are obsessed with Snapchat! Every time I open it there are like 10 new Snaps from you haha! And I haven’t had to deal with school traffic yet (I guess that is one benefit of leaving for work at 6:30 am!) but I’ve heard it’s a pain.

You know I have you to thank for snapchat – but girl you driving and snapping is worrying me lol!! I think Mark is going to know about the bird soon enough – that is if he reads your blog lol!! Oh gosh I think we’ve all been there with running into things – although a garage is one I can certainly say hasn’t happened to me…yet lol! xo, Biana –BlovedBoston
Lindsay says
So funny! The trader joes incident would SO happen to me. I love your pumping gas outfit haha! and I can totally attest to the anger with rain, it seriously pisses me off and my hair, nothing like southern humidity!

I love a good “confessions” post. ANd for some reason i was drawn to the gas pumping post. I absolutely DETEST pumping gas and usually tell myself every time that it’s just not right! ha!
Stacy G says
Love these posts! You always give me a good laugh. My confession is I should be finishing up laundry and getting ready for kindergarten orientation, but instead I opt to check out a few of my favorite blogs. The very popular fashion blogs have never been my favorite…I prefer a mix of topics. I feel like I need to get on snapchat asap bc my life is usually pretty hilarious/crazy with the kids lol.
Bri @ North Star Girl Lone Star World says
Haha I’d probably keep the bird to myself. One if the very few times, possibly the only time, that I wore a white top to work at my old job I spilled coffee on it halfway to work.
kathy @ more coffee, less talky says
i used to have snapchat but then forgot i had it and ended up deleting my account! this week has been fabulous in terms of traffic – school doesn’t start for us until sept 8 so EVERYONE is on vacation for the last 2wks which means no asshats on the road (yay!) but also means as soon as sept 8 comes, all the rage comes with it because it’ll be full throttle asshole driving :(
ps – great layout – it’s clean, uncluttered and easy on the eyes…my kinda layout.
Rachel Emily says
I can think of at least three Snapchatters that you might be referring to unfollowing. I mean, I talk to my dog probably more than is normal but I don’t base 100 Snaps a day around it – holy cow annoying. Good luck with de-cluttering. It’s always hard to give stuff up!
Kate @ Green Fashionista says
Such a fun post! And I can totally relate to you on unfollowing certain “big time” bloggers on snap – I just can’t anymore. But it is amusing to me how perfectly manicured their lives are on instagram and their blog, but behind the scenes is a big ol’ snoozefest :-P
Still obsessing over those barre pants – get it girl pumping gas in them and rockin’ those heels!
Alana says
Running into the garage door is something I would do, so I feel your pain/embarrassment! Lol. I hate pumping gas–I always feel like people are staring at me out there in my heels and pencil skirts so I totally make Jacob do it for me! Haha. I tell him when my tank is low and he fills it up…pathetic, I know. Lol
christina says
the gas pumping outfit really cracks me up. mostly bc i can just imagine seeing you doing it and i’d be like “oh hey girl” and probably look down bc i’m wearing the same thing. or ya know a dress & sneakers, even worse. eww so many people who walk to work do that and it really creeps me out!!!!!
Ashley says
Your snap of pumping gas made me laugh last night! Work it girlll! I’m totally with you on the big time bloggers that literally never do anything… unfollow!
Jessica says
HGTV gets me every time! Ha. I have a snap account and just can’t get into it. Maybe if I start finding some fun people to follow it will motivate me more.
kerri @ cheshire kat says
ha i need to get a confessions post going. it feels good to get it off your chest. loving the heels and barre pants haha. but you rock it!
xoxo cheshire kat

We were on the same page with our posts today! I’m obsessed with snapchat, too – although I need to get better at remembering to use it! I have so many situations where after the fact I’m like ‘I totally should have snapped that’! First world problems ;)
Jaelan @ Making Mrs. M says
Ah – I wish we had Trader Joe’s! One day, one day…
I have had those days of getting caught in the rain, too. I was coming back from lunch yesterday when it started to pour. I miraculously found a parking spot close(ish) to the door, and ran inside with arms full of clean scrubs, coffee, and my purse. I got in, shook the water off, started towards my office and noticed the key fob that hangs on my pants was no longer there…. I had to go BACK out in the monsoon to find it. AH!
Rachel says
Such a great post! I can totally relate to several of these, especially the Snapchat haha! And the school traffic. Oh it’s been terrible here and it’s only day three! I’m so not prepared for this.

Awwwwww, you poor thing! I’ve done the run in the rain mad dash and last week I almost ate it on the asphalt. Sorry the rain has been causing so much drama, blech.
Confession posts are so fun to read and write, I love finding out what other people confess. I hear you on being super busy, too. It seems like it’s one thing after another and letting go of something might need to happen for sanity’s sake. Hope you have a great day!
Paige @ An Uncomplicated Life Blog says
Girl, lemme just tell you something: ALL snapchat is boring, unless you have a wildly inappropriate friend who gives zero s**ts about public profiles and loves that it’s gone/erased in a day. Snapchat is the c-squad, never-gonna-make-varsity moments in life. Snooze fest. Stop trying to make a Kodak moment or witty comment out of NOTHING. I’m raging on the snapchat because I have a headache… Ha. I laughed out loud at your students and the stupid questions! Have no fear, this is just our future…
Jenna @ A Savory Feast says
That Trader Joe’s story is SO SAD!! I would probably cry.
Carly says
I’ve been there with a wallet in another purse. It sucks. Ha, especially when you have your heart set on something. I confess that I also have unfollowed some bloggers on Snapchat – too many snaps and too boring!
Caroline @ Windy City Chic says
SOOO with you on the fashion blogger thing. I mean to be rude, but seriously who are these people? And why are they so fancy? I have been avoiding Trader Joe’s because its within walking distance from our place. HGTV is pretty addicting too. I watched that Flip or Flop show and House Hunters last night. Now I want a new home. Just kidding. The bird thing is kind of funny too. Maybe because I’m picturing a bird flying into Chris… haha. A pigeon looked like it was going to fly right into me yesterday and I ducked only to see it fly away. Thank goodness. Your garage door incident sounds both awful and funny. I would have cried. Anyways, love these posts and I hope that you have a fab day today lady!! :-)
Emily says
Okay, but yes to top fashion bloggers on Snapchat. My friend was asking me last night if I followed a particular one and she showed me the snap and I was like THAT’S her voice?!?!
But really, file that under one reason I could never do a vlog. Everyone would stop following me because…voices. gross. ;)
Jessi says
Oh no, the horror of picking up your favorites at Trader Joe’s and realizing there’s no way to pay for them! That’s happened to me once and only once. I was so sad about it that I’ve never forgotten again. I adore you on snapchat and wish I had some more interesting life things going on to put on my story. You’d probably think I was deathly boring with my office job and my packed lunches ;)
Jenn @ Party of One says
I confess – that I’m so excited to have found your blog! Nikki linked to one of your workouts and I had to come check you out :) Got to love the post barre attire with the post workday shoes…it’s happened to me oh so many times, too. Do I run in to Publix to get sushi because I’m starving or…. eat cereal at home and save my appearance?!
I think I need to jump on this Snapchat bandwagon!!
Looking forward to exploring more of your blog :)
Owen Davis says
You are rocking that gas-pumping outfit. I bet you got some looks for that, ha!! I love it. “where is the syllabus”… I die hahahaha
Lindsay says
I love confessions! And I’m so happy to be following you on snapchat now! I totally feel you with some of the well known fashion bloggers! :) I’ve totally forgot my wallet while grocery shopping on many occasions and it’s the most annoying thing!
Darcy says
I know we’ve already talked about this snapchapt thing before, but gosh it amazes me that certain people act crazy on snapchat! I see comments everywhere talking about how annoying certain bloggers are, and how they are ruining their brand through snapchat. I feel like they have to be seeing these comments if I am so I don’t know why they aren’t changing anything!

Carly says
That bird in the garage story is totally something that would happen to me too, haha, and also slightly creepy! Anddd I’m getting closer and closer to getting snapchat to see what everyone is always talking about!
Nadine says
I would probably keep the bird incident to myself. I mean, there are too many times to get an I told yo u so in marriage that if he wasn’t there to witness it, you just smuggly smile and realize you get an extra point :) And ummm I have run into things, dropped things, spilled things, tripped over there…all of it…whilst trying to spend the least amount of time possible in the rain that I have basically given up now and just walk casually and cautiously knowing that I am going to look a mess regardless. It always picks the wrong times!! Especially lunch hours. I never like leaving for lunch in the rain!
Lindsay says
I love the gas pumping – looking way too stylish post workout ;) You have so much going on, I do not know how you balance it all and manage to sleep!
Zelle says
Love these posts. I’m with you on Snapchat — the whole “I’m having such a hard day” just kills me sometimes. And of course loving that workout outfit – been there a few times!

Rebecca Jo says
That’s why I don’t join snapchat… everyone would get tired of me talking to my dog all day with my twangy voice :)
Amanda says
Bahahahah at your mad dash to the garage! That would be the perfect gif!
You prob would not like my snaps… there are a lot of dog ones! lol A LOT!
Tiffany (A Touch of Grace) says
I love a good ol’ fashion confession post. I would have lost it if a bird had flown straight at me. And I have yet to join Snapchat, mainly bc I barely have time for my existing social media but maybe I’ll join just to follow some people :)
Emily says
One of these I’ll fall into the Snapchat trend. Marathon training is taking over my life and my blog has just suffered….I finally cleared out the cobwebs today! Haha. And ummm those leggings in your Snap, LOVE.
kristen says
um camp patton is on snapchat?! my life is complete.
Helene in Between says
I HATE when I go somewhere and forget my wallet. it’s so defeating! heres hoping the rest of your week brightens up!
Krystal // The Krystal Diaries says
The gas pumping outfit is hysterical. Love it lol . I’m still trying to get into the whole Snapchat thing and it makes me feel really old that it took me this long to get the hang of it.
Erin of TexErin-in-SydneyLand says
I hate racing to my car in the rain as well. But, I do a lot of walking in Sydney, so I invested in a super cute umbrella. It’s leopard print with black ruffles. It has a lot of coverage. Now, I actually enjoy walking in the rain sometimes because of my cute umbrella :)
Kiki - According to Kiki says
Consider this my big virtual hug! So sorry you are feeling over whelmed and your head is being bombarded with stupid questions. Literally I used to get so mad when a fellow classmate would ask me where to find the syllabus….. Like, why are you in college…..?? You can totally tell how hard you are working on your blog! It’s come together so well and I don’t see anything but up for you! You have all my respect in how hard you work. Keep it up girl. (:
Traci @ Waltz Me To Heaven says
Love this post! The head-hitting coffee-spilling sounds exactly like something that I would do! I confess that I am kind of clueless about snapchat. I don’t even have an account.

Thank you for the good laugh! Literally laughed out loud about your bird incident and running into the garage because I can see myself doing the same thing. I have been WAY behind on my blog reading, but back to it and always love your posts and pictures! You are fabulous!!

I’m with you on the life slow down! I feel like I’m in a season of rush and go and little down time. I miss it!
Kayla MKOY says
Girl I feel you. I’d way rather look at cute babies and adorable puppies than a blazer most days ;) loved your rendition of those post. Birds are kinda scary, I admit it ;)
Alyssa @ Alyssa with an A says
Ugh I hateee when I run out for a quick errand like that or am in a rush and forget my wallet! The worst. Also “phantom bird” made me LOL.
Sara says
Rain totally makes me stabby in the morning. I definitely LOLed at your adventures and the bird dive bombing you. All the adventures. All. the. adventures. I confess (2 days later) that I’m embarrassed at how long I stood in front of a vending machine yesterday trying to caffiene up. I really think the universe was trying to tell me I didn’t really need that drink… but I definitely stood there SO LONG trying to make it happen. And it finally did. But… what a waste of time! ;)
Karly says
Girl, your blog and graphics look fantastic. I wish I had your skills! I love your snaps – they always crack me up. Um I would’ve died if I forgot my wallet at Trader Joe’s – not because of embarrassment but because of being damn hungry. :)

you sure are an inspiration, Amanda. You do so many things so well. I always look forward to catching up on your posts.

I am loving the new blog look — you are doing fantastic with it! Also, I had to chuckle at the garage door incident. I know that in the moment I would be so mad, but after the fact it is definitely hilarious. I am going to have to follow you on SnapChat! I am insanely boring so don’t follow me back ;D ha ha!
