Happy Monday. I wish I could be reporting a better outcome for the Gator Nation but I wasn’t going into the weekend with high hopes either. I will get to say I got to wear a lot of cute cold weather gear because shoot it was cold up in Atlanta this weekend! Linking up with B today to do a little weekend recapping!
Friday we were off bright and early to jump on the quick flight from Florida to Atlanta. Every time we travel to another city, I realize how far behind our public transit is. We never had to rent a car and were able to get everywhere in the city. After checking in we headed over to the Aquarium. All of these were shot with my new Olympus PEN E-PL7 and M.ZUIKO14 – 42mm II R Black Lens, full details down below!
Y’all know I am all about efficient packing. Once again I was able to get in my weekend overnight bag without having to check anything. I will tell you my number one gripe with traveling lately has been my camera. Don’t get me wrong I absolutely love my camera for my fashion blog shooting but for traveling lately, it has been a pain. I have been snapping away like crazy my new love of my life and it’s the Olympus PEN E-PL7 camera. It has seriously become my go to camera. It is tiny but the pictures it captures are pretty mighty.
So many of you have been hitting me up on snapchat and emailing me about it and I can say that I’ve had it for well over a month and I’ve been pretty much using it exclusively. Here is the main reason, it fits in the tiniest of all clutches. Remember this picture? Yes, it was taken with my new Olympus PEN camera. Look at the bokeh (or blur) abilities with it. This was taken by me, Amanda Elizabeth with my Olympus PEN E-PL7 and M.ZUIKO14 – 42mm II R Black Lens.
I shot some of my dads prized orchids with it with the same Olympus PEN E-PL7 and M.ZUIKO14 – 42mm II R Black Lens. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone to Universal and Harry Potter. I never wanted to lug around my camera. Well, this last time I brought the PEN camera and if you remember from this post, all the high quality pictures were captured with ease. I seriously could go on for days about this camera.
It has a 180 degree flip down rotating screen so you can pop it out and down and take some serious selfies with it. It even has different art settings and modes that can be applied to the pictures. When you take a selfie with it, it even smooths your skin and makes you more photo ready if you choose. Here is the other reason why I love traveling with it. The wifi capabilities. No more am I held captive with my SIM card until I get back to the hotel. The camera automatically updates to my iPhone. The upload is incredibly fast. Then I can apply any editing I need to in my apps and upload right to instagram. The only thing it can’t do is transfer if you shoot in RAW (which I don’t, takes up way too much space in my opinion). The other thing I do have to get used to is that it doesn’t have a viewfinder. I’ve become really accustom to shooting with it but there are adapters you can buy if that is a deal breaker for you. I loved being able to have the compact camera with me to be able to snap away all weekend long while we were gone. The picture quality is excellent and you can also add additional lens if you want to. I found that the standard one it came with has allowed me to capture stunning pictures.
We had such a great time this weekend in Atlanta and I was happy to have been able to capture all the fabulous moments with my Olympus PEN camera. I hope everyone had a great weekend! Do you have a smaller camera that you travel with? What are your thoughts about traveling with your “big” camera.

Wowzers, what an incredible camera. Perfect the blogger on the go with the WIFI. Love that it fits in a small purse, that’s quite fabulous.

The sharing capabilities are what sold me on my samsung camera too – it’s amazing the quality you can get and then have it on your camera roll in minutes!! I’m so sad with the Gator loss…but it was to be expected lol! The aquarium looked like so much fun from your snaps!! Happy monday! xo, Biana –BlovedBoston

I think FL and TX are like LAST in the nation for public transportation! You should hear people get up in arms about spending any tax money on mass transit over freeway expansion here… Idiots. Anyway, I’m so on the fence about a DSLR! My 6 Plus has such a great camera in it that I thought for sure I wouldn’t need one. The images are that big and clear. However, if I reverse the camera for a selfie or to use the timer function, the camera is like the 5 or the 6 and it sucks. I also don’t get any depth of field. Soooooooo, the more I learn about photography, the more I realize that yes, I still need a DSLR. Or I need the next generation of iPhone to be at that level, lol!

Wonderful photos! Those orchids are gorgeous!! I seriously just use my iPhone camera haha. I hope that you had a fun weekend and that you have a great day today too!! :-)

Headed to Atlanta tomorrow and can’t wait for the “cold” weather. Not!
As much as it can be a pain to carry around a bigger camera, the better pictures are SO worth it!

I love love love my DSLR, but it’s hard to travel with luggage, a baby AND my camera. Sadly, I rely too heavily on my iPhone these days haha I need to show this camera to my husband ;)

I LOVE when you go to a new city and don’t need a rental car or anything. They just make it so easy!!

This camera is on my wishlist. I have a smaller camera that I take all my food pics with but I am slowly realizing I should have invested in a better camera! Sorry the gators lost!

That camera is killer! I loved all your aquarium snaps from the weekend. (: I vote your dad shares his orchid secrets. (; It’s taken me almost 4 years, but I finally have regrowth on two basic house orchids. I should add that I’ve owned a total of 4 orchids in my life, and only managed to kill 2. (; So that’s positive right? Glad you had an excellent weekend!

That camera looks great! Haha, my smaller camera is my iphone. I’m not great about lugging around my Canon, so the old iphone gets a lot of use.

That camera really is awesome! I’m sorry about your Gators, but it still looked like a fun weekend. We loved the aquarium when we went to Atlanta this fall.

Great photos and i love the blurr ability. I have the same problem with my big camera being to bulky and heavy to lug around theme park etc. This one sounds perfect!

So glad that you had a good time in Atlanta!!! Isn’t the aquarium amazing? I was a member there when I lived there and went all the time. I hate that we didn’t get the chance to come over. One day!!! I will have to check out that camera!! I want to get better with my pictures but not sure if I want to commit to the price of a fancy camera or the size of one. This looks like a decent option that takes care of size. I love that it uploads your pictures to your phone!

That’s so exciting that you got to go to the SEC Championship game, even if it didn’t turn out the way that you wanted. I loved visiting the Georgia Aquarium last time we were in Atlanta! Those whale sharks are so cool!

Loved this post. The whole reason that we got our DSLR was to travel with it. While I love using it for OOTD, we wanted it to really capture travel. We hiked 18 miles up a freaking mountain last summer, lugging our DSLR + additional heavy lenses the whole way and it sucked, but then again, using our telephoto lens on top of the mountain made it totally worth it. But I do want a smaller camera for everyday dates or trips that I take without my husband because he normally carries the camera. Thanks for sharing

That camera looks amazing. I can’t believe how small it is. It reminds me of my first digital camera, which I thought was so awesome, and then I found it the other day and saw that its “extra large” storage capacity was…25 KB. Looks like they have come a long way in 10 years. My goodness! I would love one of these, our DSLR is so big! Glad you had a great time in ATL. Sorry to hear the Gators lost! Loved watching you on Snapchat! The aquarium looked amazing!

I am all about the larger and smaller cameras. If you’re blogging, you really just need both. This sounds like a great one, and you really are such a talented photog (and so is Mark!)
Karly says
Well, you know I already asked you about that camera a while ago, so I’m glad to hear that you’re still loving it! The photos definitely are gorgeous, and it’s probably way more convenient than packing the big camera (which I can’t stand doing). Glad you had a good weekend away, too!
Nadia @ The View Is Beautiful says
Next time I plan a big trip I’m considering investing in a mirrorless camera – they’re just so compact! As much as I love the quality of my DSLR, I doubt I would want to lug it around a trip to Europe, and it would be nice to have something with better quality than a phone!

WOW, that little fella takes GREAT photos!

This makes me want to get a camera so bad again. I always think about it but never bite the bullet.
Kristina @ Medicine and Manicures says
Glad you guys had fun in ATL and that camera looks pretty sweet. I can’t justify one now because I just got my DSLR over a year ago, but one of these days I’ll add one to my collection!

The new nerveless systems are amazing!! I definitely love mine, but I’m also still very in love with my canon!! It’s nice to have both!

I LOVE that aquarium, it’s huge!! That camera looks awesome. I hardly ever take my nice camera out because it’s so huge. Need to find a smaller one!
Katie Elizabeth says
I think I need this camera. I really need to stop taking ALL my photos with my iPhone and I’ve been wanting to invest in a DSLR, but the one thing holding me back is would I really lug it around everywhere? Love that this one is so small and compact and still takes awesome pictures!
