Favorite Weekend Brunch Spot-Piquant in Hyde Park Village
December 11, 2013Happy Wednesday! Hope everyone has been having a good week! I wanted to share with you my new favorite brunch place in Tampa. It is in downtown Hyde Park Village. I went there on Saturday with my friend Kelly but even Mark loves this place…..usually I can never get him to go to the trendy spots because it’s “not enough food for a man” but he gave it his hard to come by seal of approval so it’s a win win and our usual weekend spot.
Piquant is on the corner and kind of on the edge of Hyde Park….it is absolutely so darling inside and what a concept a trendy, posh and elegant place in Tampa…with good food! The prices are relatively reasonable and the serving sizes are huge….like can’t finish my meal usually…or we get an entree and split kind of thing….mainly so we can get dessert! It has outdoor dining…which is my favorite part about living in Florida….but really the inside decor is so beautiful we have sat inside every time.
Here are a few of the professional photos from the designer…there are only so many pictures I can take before I start to get looks from people….

Every time I go I can’t decide if I want breakfast or lunch….I have gone with lunch because I seriously crave their Chicken Salad Sandwich and Power Salad. I have scoped out the fellow patrons who have had breakfast and their omelets look amazing. My dad ordered pumpkin french toast and it was to die for.
They haven’t been open too long so each time we have been they seem to be adding on. It looks like they are working on a wine bar seating area. I am so excited! It will be so fun to be able to head to the village and have a glass of wine sitting at the quaint french bistro wine bar.
I will say the waitstaff has been hit or miss. Since they are newly open you get a bit of a vibe that they are understaffed….so sometimes there is a tiny bit of a wait if you need additional side sauces or dressings….like I tend to always want. With that said the owner and her mother are always cruising around and stopping by to make sure you are having a good experience.
Also because I don’t think a Restaurant in Tampa would survive without a drinking outlet….How amazing does that Bloody Mary sound? I mean….Thai Chili infused vodka? Sign me up!
I’m so bad sorry just about eat half of the sandwich before I realized I forgot to take a picture…that’s how you know it’s good…to busy digging in to take a beauty picture. On the right is the chicken salad with fontina cheese, thinly sliced apple and avocado on a flaky warm croissant. Accompanied with an extremely generous serving of seasoned hot fries…(I wasn’t lying about all my dipping sauces). The Power Salad on the left is so healthy and filling. It is a large portion of spinach, brown rice, feta, chick peas, pulled chicken, tomatoes, avocado and roasted red peppers. I was seriously full the entire day!
I mean even the bathrooms are adorable and très chic!
The other enticing drawing point….well in a French bakery you guessed it….is all the amazing pasteries and goodies. Everyone was raving about the Cronuts….a hybrid of a croissant and donut….We reserved one before we were seated because the last time we went they were sold out by the time we were done eating. We opted for the Cronut with guava jelly…..it was good but not my favorite. I think the next time I would go for the Nutella or Vanilla one….the to go box was darling and the pastry was flaky and not too sweet but I would like to try some of the other dessert temptations the next time we go.
Speaking of très chic…can someone get me this for Christmas…..I mean honestly….Is that the most ridiculous/darling thing you have ever seen? It is at Pottery Barn….because all wine bottles should have a fur shrug and sparkly brooch right?
Have you been to Piquant? What is your favorite thing on the menu? What other brunch spots are on your list for the weekends?

It’s gorgeous! I wish there were places like that around here, I feel like most of the places I go don’t pay that much attention to detail :/
