Friday Favorites – Happy Halloween

Happy Friday y’all and Happy Halloween! Halloween is one of my favorite holidays not just because Reese’s peanut butter cups get made into ridiculously large sizes for consumption but because when I grew up North in New England this time of year was always so special.  The changing of the leaves, the bright blue sky, crisp air and warm sunlight.  It was the trickery time that kept you living up north and giving you a positive outlook before those winter months hit and you wouldn’t see the sun for months. Plus something about New England and all that history.  I swear it was haunted where I grew up and if you didn’t believe that take a trip to Salem to hear about the witch trials……then you will.

I haven’t had too much emphasis on all things Fall yet down here because it’s still like 80 degrees out every day but I thought we could put a fun Halloween vibe to today’s favorites.  Let’s get into it!

Favorite Song

I am so in love with this song.  It has such a great trance beat that picks up and has tons of energy.  Cole Plante “Before I’m Yours ft Brian Logan”.

Favorite Purchase

For all of you coveting that J. Crew Herringbone Vest.  I bought it in August when it was like over a 100 degrees in FL and still haven’t been able to wear it.  I stumbled upon this the other day.

I can’t speak for the quality because I have no idea of the actual product shipped but you can’t beat that price and the fact it will ship out in the next 2 weeks.

Favorite Throwback Halloween outfit

Alright y’all only because I love you.  Here is the year I dressed up like Ke$ha and carried an empty bottle of jack and a toothbrush around with me.  Yes you correct when I did her signature eye painted look.  I watched youtube informational videos…..many of them…..excuse me while I bury my head in shame now.  I really want to now where that fur vest went…..it’s probably better that it’s not still in my possession.

    I remember taking a trip to Salem as a kid, super cool, I think that may have been my favorite part of our holiday.

    And I’m going to have to steal that shopping ecard…that is me. I will never be on the road to recovering from being a self-proclaimed shopaholic. But is it self proclaimed when it’s obvious to everyone???

  19. Um, Kesha costume = GENIUS. I’m obsessed with it, and I most likely will recreate that costume if I ever attend a Halloween party again when it’s still acceptable for me to dress up like that. I am SO excited to start your regime of at-home workouts next week – it seriously made my day when you posted that earlier this week. Also, this is probably so twisted but I’ve always wanted to go to Salem to learn about the witch trials – I was weirdly fascinated with it in school, and I’m sure I would totally think the town is haunted. And you couldn’t be more right about growing up in New England, everyone is so mesmerized by the foliage and the crisp fall air that they forget that doom is coming (i.e. winter) where it’s frigid, gloomy, and everything’s dead outside for months on end. Moving to FL where it’s sunny and green during “winter” was the best decision ever :)

I cut back a little since we were getting married in March (those christmas cookies can be my downfall) but if you cut them out completely that is all you will want!   33. I’m not even gonna deny the awesomeness that is Ke$ha. I LOOOVE jammin’ to her. She’s probably my music dirty little secret. Since running my half marathon my motivation to workout and run has been in the negative… I’m sure once my pants stop fitting I’ll start getting a little motivation.. which shouldn’t be long now since eatin’ season is upon us.

  39. aaaahhh, those pumpkin bars! I like the Kesha costume, it’s cute. I happen to be one of those who wears slutty crap on Halloween. Not that I think this is slutty but yesterday I was somewhat ashamed of some of my previous costumes due to some “slut bashing” I saw. LOL

  47. Uhm I totally love the Kesha costume so #winning. Also cutting out sweets for me is just self sabotage. I make it maybe a week and then binge like I’ve never had sugar before. It’s never a recipe for success. Good luck with that battle though, the struggle is real
