Weekending – Barre Style + Cancelled Flights

You know that scene in Mean Girls when Regina George is furiously writing in the burn book with that large marker and rage talking out loud as she writes into the book?  That was pretty much me this weekend when I was told by United Airlines that their Customer Care center is closed on the weekends but if I would like to write a complaint on united.com/feedback somebody would respond to me in 7-10 business days.  Ughhhhh why are they the worst airlines in the entire world????  So I got to spend another glorious night in the Spartanburg area eating a king size bag of Peanut M&M’s and cold fries.  Total joy.  Even though they were sweet potato fries……it still didn’t remedy the situation.  Linking up with Biana and Meghan!
This pretty much felt like the longest weekend ever starting with a 5am wakeup call for my 730 am flight out of Tampa through Atlanta with arriving in Greenville/Spartanburg.  My PureBarre training wasn’t until Saturday so I took the whole day to cozy up in my fluffy hotel bed and read Joey’s book in an entire day.  I literally couldn’t put it down.  It was the first book I have read in forever and it was such a good read!  I highly recommend picking it up!
Have any of you been to Spartanburg before?  There is no CVS or Walgreens but apparently this town has a real love affair with thai food.  I swear there is more in a square radius then people who live in that actual area.
I mean don’t get me wrong I love some thai food but not when you have an entire day of workout training ahead of you! If you’re ever in the area (get water ahead of time apparently) and make sure you check out Lime Leaf.
Training was fabulous until I got to the airport only to realize that my flight was delayed just enough to miss my connection……and there was no way I could get home to Tampa.
So back to another hotel I went.  I was kinda holding it in until I got the “awww babe I miss you I was looking forward to seeing you tonight” and then I went all Regina George on the United airlines phone line.  Oh well I did learn two valuable lessons this weekend.
Number one.  This is definitely not a sharing size.  Unless I plan on sharing all of it…..with myself…..because if that’s the case…..then it’s the perfect size.
Number two.  Want to see what a $7 food voucher can get you?
It dubbed as dinner and breakfast.  I am happy to say I did successfully make it home after meeting some interesting people on the way home.
I came home to these from Mark.  I think he missed me.  Cupcakes from Cakes by Ron who did our wedding.
I also taught at my studio, got a quick power nap, mani, laundry and got everything lined up for this week with posts.  You will not want to miss the Wedding Wednesday post this week!  Let’s just say I got some pictures back.  They are amazing!  Who is your favorite airline to fly?  Who is your least favorite?  I hope you had a great weekend!  xoxoxo

Awww, sweetie, I’m sorry. It’s never fun spending an unexpected night away from your husband. I’m glad training went well, and bummed that the airlines stunk everything up :(!

    Those cupcakes look amazing! xoxo

  2. March 9, 2015 / 9:59 AM

I hate United, they’re the worst. I’m glad you were able to make it home safe and sound though and Mark did good with those cupcakes!!! YUM! Is that a key lime one? Can’t wait to see your post Wed! :) You know how much I love looking at your wedding photos! That black and white one I love so much better be included!!! :) Happy Monday girl!

I totally agree that those M&M’s are not sharing size nor should they be considered that size…maybe for children lol!! Glad you were able to finally make it home and girl United really is the WORST airline ever! Hope you have a great Monday love!!! xo, Biana – BlovedBoston

  4. March 9, 2015 / 10:44 AM

Can’t wait to see your pics on Wednesday! Have a great week Amanda! At least you had cupcakes waiting for you! lol xo

  5. March 9, 2015 / 10:50 AM

Glad that you finally made it home–I enjoyed hearing about the interesting people you encountered tho! :)
Also, that is NOT 2 servings worth of peanut M&Ms….lame. Im glad that the training was good and you came home to a happy husband with cupcakes (he’s a winner, that one!!)
Here’s hoping this week goes a little more smoothly than the weekend did!

  6. March 9, 2015 / 11:17 AM

It is the worst when your travel plans are changed, and not by you! And wow you got a lot in this weekend, I don’t know how you do it!

  7. March 9, 2015 / 12:20 PM

I have to go to Spartanburg for work and there is literally nothing there. Who knew they had so much thai found though?? Glad you finally make it home!

  8. March 9, 2015 / 12:29 PM

Aww, that stinks! I would have literally cried I think, lol! And done the Regina George rage thing too. I’m glad you got home ok and how nice to be greeted with cupcakes! :)

  9. March 9, 2015 / 12:43 PM

ugh united is the worst! i just keep hearing horror story after another. i actually have flown southwest a lot and love them. they are always nice if anything comes up. but anyway i’m glad you’re back to sunny florida and i can’t wait for wed’s post! xo

  10. March 9, 2015 / 12:44 PM

i will only go on air canada if i absolutely have to because they are the worst. the last airline that really impressed me was Delta. they lost kayla’s car seat when we went to florida and not only did they leave us a message as we were getting off the plane (and had no idea that they had lost it) but they told us exactly where it was, when it would be arriving and even had a guy drop it off at our condo. prior to the delivery, they emailed my husband a picture of the driver who would be dropping off our car seat with his arrival time at our place. if that’s not service, i dont know what is!!!

  11. March 9, 2015 / 12:53 PM

such a bummer that you got stuck… it would have been SO much better if your training was in charleston :) ah well, im glad you got some cupcakes when you got home! xo jillian – cornflake dreams

  12. March 9, 2015 / 12:58 PM

Having flights not work out is the worst! And United just merged with American, making them the worst airlines on the face of the planet. American cancelled a flight on me for no reason, and I was stuck in DC for 40 hours, no vouchers or anything. So… At least you got a bag of popcorn? Glad you finally made it back, and hopefully got a lot of great Thai in!

  13. March 9, 2015 / 1:16 PM

Traveling never fails to pose several adventures! Glad you eventually made it home safely, and how sweet of your hubby with those cupcakes, amazing!

  14. March 9, 2015 / 1:18 PM

You poor thing! Airlines can be so annoying, I swear. But hey – I’m digging your lunch and dinner of candy and chips. :) It looks like your hubby did miss you – now I want a cupcake! Happy Monday, lady.

  15. March 9, 2015 / 1:33 PM

Ugh, that is THE worst! What a bummer way to spend the weekend. Glad you were finally able to make it home though – and to cupcakes nonetheless :)

  16. March 9, 2015 / 1:37 PM

United is THE WORST. I used to love Ametican, but it’s hit or miss now that they merged with USAir. Glad you are home, and I LOVE that your hubs brought cupcakes!!!

  17. March 9, 2015 / 2:05 PM

Ahh! I cannot WAIT to see your photos! How fun.
Sorry about the airline. That’s absolutely ridiculous.

  18. March 9, 2015 / 2:38 PM

We drive through Spartanburg all the time, but have never stayed there. Haha it’s probably not on the list. I never fly United, but now def won’t either. Glad you finally made it back!

  19. March 9, 2015 / 2:50 PM

Ahh United is the worst! The number of times I’ve written a complaint is too many to count! You are the cutest barre girl ever!

  20. March 9, 2015 / 2:53 PM

Ah that is so annoying. Airline’s customer service is such a joke, seven to ten business days? Yeah, ok. At least you are home now and have cupcakes, that’s always a positive!

    prosecco in the park

  21. March 9, 2015 / 3:04 PM

I can see how it felt like the longest weekend ever! I would be pissed too but looks like Mark take care of the cheering you up part very well!! I’m sure it’s good to be home!

  22. March 9, 2015 / 3:05 PM

Oh no that is awful! I have hated United for ever, but having their stupid mileage card has been a huge money saver especially being in a long distance relationship. Seriously not open on the weekends?! They fly planes on the weekends, so why shouldn’t customer service be there!! At least you finally got home to your hubby and what a sweetheart for getting you cupcakes!! Also, that is totally a self-sharing size!

  23. March 9, 2015 / 3:32 PM

Getting stuck is the worst! And how does a place that runs 24/7 not have a customer care center open 7 days a week?! That is pure crazy to me! We generally fly Southwest… I’m actually not sure I’ve ever flown anything but that (except AeroMexico once).

  24. March 9, 2015 / 4:20 PM

A husband that has amazing cupcakes waiting for you? Yep… you got a good one :)

  25. March 9, 2015 / 4:25 PM

Southwest is the airline I will never ever fly again I am always at least 4 hours delayed and for reasons like “no flight crew”! I sent them some fan mail and got tickets reimbursed once but yuck! I swear by Delta! Glad you finally got home and had cupcakes to top it off!

  26. March 9, 2015 / 4:32 PM

Oh that is awful. Feeling stranded in an area you don’t know, without a Walgreens is ludicrous! I mean at least you had a serious smorgasbord of Thai food. We have one Thai restaurant in a large city. That’s impressive enough.

Arriving home to cupcakes, genius husband status right there. (: Glad all is better.

  27. March 9, 2015 / 5:01 PM

So sorry to hear about your hellish journey home!! I know that hate is a strong word, but I hate United. Chris does too. I’ve never had a good experience flying them. You have just provided another example as to why their customer service stinks too. Anyways.. those cupcakes look incredible, and I’m happy that you made it home safely. Looking forward to your post on Wednesday too!! :-)

  28. March 9, 2015 / 5:02 PM

I totall agree. United is the worst! Seriously, the worst. We are Alaska Airlines people. And yes, that big is not at all a 2 person bag.
Your hubby rocks with those cupcakes. What a good guy!

  29. March 9, 2015 / 5:28 PM

Oh traveling is just the worst sometimes. I have had issues with american and united for years now. Look forward to seeing pictures wednesday!

  30. March 9, 2015 / 5:44 PM

Ugh that’s the worst! When I was on my way home on Christmas Eve this year one of my flights was delayed so long that I missed the next two connections they booked me on. Thankfully there was one last one (that I literally had to run to catch) or I wouldn’t have made it home for Christmas. I’m glad you got home safe eventually – those cupcakes look almost worth the wait for!

  31. March 9, 2015 / 6:03 PM

Ughhhh getting stuck somewhere because of flight issues is a nightmare! So sorry that happened, but looks like you had a sweet return. Pun intended! I read Joey’s book super fast too! It was so good!! Hope you have a great week!

    PS – I want thai now…

  32. March 9, 2015 / 7:36 PM

United is the worse! And girllll, I feel ya on the peanut M&Ms… Perfect for sharing with myself, haha! Glad you finally got home to Mark!!

  33. March 9, 2015 / 7:36 PM

That definitely sucks that United cancelled your flight! And their customer service is closed on the weekends? That’s just crazy. So many people fly on the weekends. Those cupcakes look delish though and what a nice treat to finally come home to. Hope your week is off to a better start! Winks and Eyerolls

  34. March 9, 2015 / 7:56 PM

ugh, so sorry you had to deal with this. no fair at all. united is stupid, i have only flown with them once, never again!
haha that sharing size – as if. i buy those in the skittles, i aint sharing with nobody! and now i want a cupcake!

  35. March 9, 2015 / 8:00 PM

Ugh I’m sorry!! All airlines are the worst! My brother is a pilot and the way they treat them is as bad as their customers. But big yay to a good husband stocked with treats!!!

  36. March 9, 2015 / 8:27 PM

Aw so sad! I would have picked your butt up (although you’re 4 hours from here lol). At least you made it work, like you said. Being stranded is the worst. Screw “sharing size”! Can’t wait for Wednesday!

  37. March 9, 2015 / 8:40 PM

Ugh! That is the worst! But at least you had those amazing cupcakes when you got back. I can’t wait to read your post Wednesday! Yay for pictures! xo

  38. March 9, 2015 / 8:52 PM

Glad you finally made it home and did not have to share the not so sharable bag of M & Ms!

  39. March 9, 2015 / 9:08 PM

Ugh I was stuck in Atlanta the week before last. Too bad we weren’t stuck together! Glad you made it home to your super sweet husband!

  40. March 9, 2015 / 9:10 PM

I am so sorry you had such a rough time traveling. I hate that. That is too weird that they don’t have a CVS or Walgreens… what!? Not normal. I am so looking forward to your Wednesday post! Have a great week!!

  41. March 9, 2015 / 9:13 PM

I hate flying period. I think they all kind of suck anymore. I would much rather road trip if possible. Obvs you can’t do that for business but glad you made it home to cupcakes! What a sweet hubby you have:)

  42. March 9, 2015 / 10:08 PM

Man, that stinks! Flying is the worst, because it’s so unpredictable. I hate how powerless you feel when stranded somewhere. Glad you made it home finally and were met with such sweet treats!!

  43. March 9, 2015 / 10:34 PM

I just pictured that seen; what a good comparison! I would have been the same way! Sometimes it’s nice to have a relaxing day to yourself with nothing to do! At least your burned off a ton of calories in your training to enjoy the whole {small} bag of m&m’s yourself! How sweet of Mark to get those cupcakes; I would have melted!!

  44. March 10, 2015 / 12:25 AM

Oh man, that is rough. I can’t believe they told you to submit online and wait 7-10 days. I would have gone off on someone. Not okay. Cupcakes totally help.

  45. March 10, 2015 / 12:56 AM

WAIT!! did you by chance meet danielle cote this weekend? she’s a master trainer and my best friend!!!

  46. March 10, 2015 / 3:56 AM

I’m so sorry that you had such a crappy time with the airlines! I pretty much only ever fly Delta…which apparently some people have a real beef with but they’ve never let me down once. Those cupcakes look bomb!

  47. March 10, 2015 / 4:18 AM

Aww sucks when airlines mess up but really how cute is Mark for making that up to you! Love it!

  48. March 10, 2015 / 4:49 PM

Yikes that sucks! Those cupcakes look amazing though! I actually really like Southwest. I know so many people hate them but I have had such great experiences with them.

  49. March 10, 2015 / 10:42 PM

We were so close! I live about an hour from Greenville. It really stinks you had so many problems with United. They are actually my favorite airline. I prefer them over Delta but mostly have flown with them internationally. You need to use your Barre powers and have them open a Pure Barre in Clemson!
