Happy Monday! That weekend flew by way too fast even though I pretty much feel like that every Monday. I hope everyone had a great weekend. Today I wanted to round up some of my favorite dresses for Valentine’s Day. I actually was never a fan of Valentine’s Day and to tell you the truth I’m still kinda meh about it. However, I will take any opportunity for a sweet handwritten note by my husband, a great dinner made at home, and an opportunity to wear a pretty dress with red lipstick. True story. When Mark and I were trying to decide on a day for our first date he was throwing days out as suggestions. I had a rule of thumb when I was dating that a guy never got a Friday night. I had all these strong beliefs back then because I was very much into the guys are the worst and they had to earn it sort of guard up gal. So he was Tuesday or Wednesday work? I was all “Tuesday!” because in my head it was a nonchalant day of the week that meant I wasn’t putting too much pressure on it. His response was “well that’s Valentine’s Day, it may be crazy out but I can start looking for reservations now“. I immediately started backpedaling, does he think I want to go on Valentine’s Day?!?!? Oh so much pressure for him! No No….let’s do Thursday. So our first date was on February 16th and we got married on February 20th…..so you can say it’s kind of an important week in our relationship.
Y’all know my love affair with BB Dakota and this Spring collection is going strong for them. They sent me over this floral wrap dress and I’m super in love with it. It is extremely flattering, a good price point, and it has pockets. Yes, pockets! Sizes are selling out fast so scoop it up if it’s on your radar. Sizing reference. I’m wearing a size 2 in it. I’m rarely a 2 in dresses so I would say it is generous in the sizing but if you want it a tiny bit longer, then size up. I paired this dress with my first pair of Aquazzura heels. This particular style is called the Amazon heels that I got on mega sale during the last Shopbop sale. They are insanely comfy. A little fussy to get into with all the lace ups but worth the high maintenance because they are insanely sexy on. Keep an eye out for these bad boys to go on sale because they are worth the splurge. I’m also completely in love with all the stripes from J.O.A and the Spring line. The midi skirt is in my shopping cart.
Here are some other red dresses on my radar! I am loving the sleeves and price point on this one. This pink beauty is currently sitting in my cart. I am swooning over these ballerina lace ups. My pink Yaro block heels by Sam Edelman are in full stock again. Seriously, my favorite Spring purchase to date. I love the back of this dress and it has gotten so many great reviews. The zipper up the back of this one is a showstopper.
Tell me what your plans are for Valentine’s Day? I think we will be staying in with some Chateaubriand from Fresh Market and a nice bottle of wine. Do you get dressed up for the event or do you not get too excited over the whole thing?
